Sd card i cant get my sd card to work. when i put in my sd card in the sd card reader nothing happens

You should try putting the SD card into a PC Card Reader and see if there is any data on the card. That normally happens when there is a bad connection or the card is blank.

Was the Operating System installed by the manufacturer, or did you reinstall it? YOu probably just need to go to the compaq web site, and download the appropriate driver for the integrated card reader:

I would check all the slots if that is the only slot giving you problems then that slot may be bad.

Check to make sure it isn't an SDHC card. Most older card readers aren't able to read the formatting of the newer cards. You may need to buy a new card reader with SDHC support.

put ur SD card in and restart will install all drivers and will make the card reader work

i had this problem so i put my SD card in the reader and restarted my laptop as soon as it logged on it said installing new device now the card reader works everytime

have you try to insert it to another computer?

Look into the device manager for Recoh drivers.reinstall them.Also try the card in a different system or different card in the same system to check if they are working fine.If still not working than u might have to get the motherboard replaced

have you tried other sd cards before or is this the first time?

if you have and its just this time it hasent make sure its working in your camera or mp3 player or where ever it came from :-)
if it works have a look in your device manager to make sure there are no problems with the drivers.

2 control pannel
3 system
4 then the hardware tab and click the device manager.

if there are anyproblems there is useually a little symbol next to the device just double click on it and have a look for the error code.

if all else fails try reinstaling the driver for your card reader or find an updated drivr download.
