I think you need help from your telco, not from me. This looks like a local loop problem if you have no dial tone. Call your telco and say, "No dial tone, no internet". They will dispatch repair..

Uniden phone light WON'T flash red light when I have pulsing dial tone VM messages.

The pulsing dial tone usually indicates a message on the service provider's server, not on your phone. Contact your provider to find the procedure to access these messages.

I'm experiencing a problem with cisco 7941 IP phone. here is the current condition of the phone: it has no dial tone, the programmable button is alternately blinking, the headset button has a steady...

can you explain me how is your phone connect to internet.
best on your Question its seems to me you cant hear a dial tone because of following one or more factors might apply
  1. you must log into the Extension Mobility service
  2. you must enter a client matter code (CMC) or forced authorization code (FAC) after dialing a number
  3. your phone has time -of-day restrictions that prevent you from using some features during certain hours of the day

I just installed a replacement At&t EP 5962 2 line, answering answering device telephone. Line 2 does not get a dial tone. I installed it into proper / same as before outlets and both lines light...

There may be damage to the wiring of line 2 (either in the building or on the phone). Are both lines wired to one jack or are they separate? Do you have any other jacks that have line 2 connected (preferably as single line jack) in the building?

I like to use an old single line corded phone that does not use a power adapter. (As long as the EP5962 corded base will work without power (POTS), it might work for the tests below. You might want a simpler phone to carry around.)

If the lines have separate jacks, try switching line 1 and line 2. (Connect your Line 2 jack to the Line 1 input on the phone and vice versa.) If line 2 doesn't give a dial tone when connected to line 1, see the next set of tests. Otherwise, contact AT&T if the phone is under warranty. These phones are not meant to be user-serviced. Alternatively, plug in a different phone to the line 2 jack to test for dial tone.

Next move to another jack with line 2. Check if you have dial tone at that point. (If you do, you know the problem is at the first jack or the wiring to the jack.)

If there is no dial tone at the next jack or you do not have another jack for the line, find where your telephone service comes in. Open the service box and determine the type of connections in the box. If you are lucky, you will find RJ-11 jacks for the incoming service. Plug in your test phone and check for dial tone. If you have no dial tone or can't check the service, then contact your telephone company. They will test your line and fix it free if the probIem is outside.

If you have a dial tone, then it's an inside wiring problem. Inspect the visible wires for damage. Open the faceplates for the jacks and check for loose wires. There are two types of connectors. Screw type connectors need the wire stripped back a little then wrap around the screw and tighten. The other type is a punchdown jack. To repair a loose wire in this, you will need a punchdown tool. These are often available in hardware/home improvement stores in the wiring section. http://www.lanshack.com/wire_phone_jack.aspx has clear pictures of the wire color to pin pattern.

You may want a professional to check the wires inside the walls. Your phone company will fix problems for a fee.

Damaged DSL filters on one line could be the cause. Similarly certain animals may have chewed on the specific wires somewhere in the line.

I hope this helps.

I just got a uniden cordless phone and it has no dial tone

Allow it to charge for at least 2 hours. If after 2 hours you have no dial tone Unplug your Phone and plug in a regular un-powered phone. If you get DT your phone is out of box defective, and you will need a new one. If it does not have dial tone then there is a problem on your phone line and you need to contact your phone company. Note, the phone company will charge you for repairs inside your house.

Have a V-Tech 6.0 phone CS6319 Series - Battery OK - turns on, but NO DIAL TONE. We do not have manual, Do not see anything like Mute On/Off in menu. All connectors and plugs are secure. Help?

First, does another phone get a dial tone at the jack in question? (I prefer an old corded phone for this test since it is unlikely to have some of the problems of a cordless.) Try a new phone cord between the base and the jack. If there is no dial tone, try the test phone at other jacks. If there is no dial tone at any jack with either phone, find where your telephone service comes in and open the service box. If you are lucky and have a fairly new connection, the service box will have RJ-11 jacks. Plug your test phone into the jack and check for dial tone. Otherwise you will need the phone company to do this test. If there is no dial tone at the service box, your phone company will fix the problem for you for free.

If your test phone works:
Make sure that the base is plugged into a working outlet (no tripped circuit breaker, turned off power strip). Next check that the handsets are registered with the base. To register the handset, press the Find HS button on the base (below the in use indicator) for 4 seconds, then press # on the handset. (Our cordless phones once lost their registration during an extended power outage.) You can force deregistration by pressing and holding Find HS for 10 seconds. The In Use light should come on and flash. Then release the Find HS button and then press and release it again while the In Use light is blinking. You may need to try unplugging the base after pressing Flash/Talk and then Off/Clear before deregistering the handsets. The register the handsets.

You can Mute the microphone on the handset with the Mute button. To silence the ringer, press Menu/Select when the handset is not in use. Use the up/down arrow keys to select Ringers then press Menu/Select. Then press Menu/Select to choose Ringer Volume. Use the up/down arrows to change the volume and then press Menu/Select to confirm and save the setting. This should not change the ability to hear the dial tone.

If your test phone works at the service connection but nowhere else, then you have a wiring problem inside. Check exposed wires if you have them. Your phone company will offer to fix the issue for a fee. If the problem is at one jack, open the faceplate and check for loose wires. Some faceplates use a keystone with a punch-down tool to secure the wires. Others just wrap the wire around a screw for each pin.

If the handsets are registered and the base has power, then the cordless phone has problems. If it is under warranty, have it fixed. Otherwise, replace it; they aren't made to be user serviced.

The manual is available here: http://www.vtechcanada.com/support_docs/vtt/CS/CS6319_en_cib.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Lost dial tone and phone service

Your phone line might be connected to Telephone 1 not 2. That could be the reason why you are not getting a dial tone.
