I have been given a Bush LCD32TV005HD without a remote or manual. I have connected it to my Virgin+ box and BBC, ITV &C4 channels all show in widescreen but when I go to a cable channel the picture shrinks and there are thick black lines top, bottom and sides of the picture. Any ideas how I can solve this please. Thank you.

There is not a problem with the TV despite it's age this is can be due to your reception of the digital package for BBC. Have you checked through he full listings? sometimes the BBC channel will be at a different number setting because of the transmitter you are receiving. I assume you are using a digital box, you can enter a menu which will give you an indication of the strength & quality of the incoming signal. Do you pick up some of the other BBC channels such as BBC3 or CBBC? It's possible your aerial strength is a bit weak for the digital BBC package & you may need to have that looked at.
I think you need to get Sky because it will give you 100% coverage of all terrestrial channels. You may need to retune the television otherwise just get sky
