Kenmore washer no spin, agitate, or drain. hot smell

It is either a bad pump or a bad control. Call Sears. Hard for the homeowner to fix. If not in warranty, ask them how much to fix and then decide if the old one is worth the money. If the machine is 10 years old, go for a new one.

its suppose to start with lid down,the draining may be a faulty water level switch so this needs replaced.

it sounds like a bad lid switch if it will not drain or spin,the switch controls that-mike

Motor coupler between motor and gearcase.

sounds as if oyou have a bad motor coupling, you can search you tube for keywords, whirlpool motor coupling, far easier to watch someone perform the repain that try to explain it, easy to do!!! part number 285753

unless your washer is over 20 years old, then it wont have a belt. the temperature of the water wont have anything to do with it spinning or not.
need to know if it agitates or drains and just wont spin.
if it agitates but no spin or drain, then you have a bad lid switch.
if it wont agitate or spin, but will drain, then you have a broken drive coupling.

I have a kenmore elite washer. whwn on spin cycle it does not spin and als o will no agitate. There is a loud noise wen on spin cycle. Please help

yes, check the drain, could be clogged, or check the water pump assembly as well, the clothe could be stuck in the impeller.

the burning smell could be coming from a separate electric water pump and it can not turn that is why it is burning already.

i assume that the warer is turn on at the warer valves if so then do you have voltage at the water valve if not then water pressure switch could be bad or main control board could be bad
