I have to keep a towel under my machine, and it is consistently soaking wet. I know about the gasket change when brew does not fill the cup, and it is not that. I wonder if there is any connection to the time I could not get the tray back in and had to push and pull to get it into place. The tray works fine now, but could I have caused some displacement? I believe it only leaks when I make coffee and not when it is idle. The towel shows only water and not coffee. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We have an older model: impressa E5, but with the same problem. It worked fine, we moved the model to another place and suddenly you can do anything but making coffee.
Because if you try to make coffee, the machine leaks water from the left side of the bottom (beneath the water reservoire) and no coffee comes out.
Furthermore, we discoverd that the coffeebeans that are prepared, used for the cup of coffee, stay dry.. so the water doesn't get to the coffee at all, but directly leaks out of the machine.
If the machine is idle, then no water leaks out of the machine. Leaking only occures when you try to make a cup of coffee.
Maybe it is one of the tubes which are used to transport the water to the coffee that is not in place?

Kat346 There are a number of places were the leak could be occurring. I can't pinpoint it without see inside your machine. I maybe something like a broken or dried out oring or a cracked fitting or heater cartridge. We repair E75 www.hotncold.com

The NHS-B has a semi-sealed tank that keeps +1 pot of water heated and ready to brew. Pouring in a full pot of cold water will fill the top tray and allow a slow trickle of cold water into the top which forces hot water to over flow into the brew basket. This continues until all the cold water drains into the heater tank. So the brew is matched volume per volume. UNLESS the thank was empty or not filled prior to brewing. Follow the brewing instructions from Bunn (on line for *FREE* download at Bunn.com)
* If it leaks (from the bottom) only when you pour in water. Then your pouring it too fast and over flowing the fill tray. slowdown, watch the level in the tray. do not fill past the lid.
* If it leaks just sitting (not brewing) then there is a hole in the tank. Call for service.
* If it leaks after filling the tray half way. then the top of the tank has a leak, loose, cracked, or missing gasket. There is quite a few gaskets on the lid. Call for service.
* Final; Leaks are always bad around electrical equip. Best to unplug and call for service to be safe.

P.S. If you did splash too much water then wipe up as much as you can. Leave it out on a towel or paper towels to allow the excess moisture to evaporate. If you dump all the water out of the brewer (and tank) then you will need to pre-fill it with a pot of water PRIOR to plugging in the brewer. Follow the set up instructions in the manual. Let it heat up and try again. If it's still leaking then there is a hole in the tank. Call for service.
Jura does not allow access to internal parts for cleaning. Brew group is the dirtiest part as it deals with complicated movements to make coffee.
Error 8 means the brew group is not returning to start position after it completes entire cycle to make coffee.
Jura recommends to remove drip tray. Using a thin cloth, insert the hand all the way under the machine. You will feel access to the bottom of the brew group. Wipe clean the bottom of brew group as best as you can. There will be lot of coffee powder (wet & dry) that is partially responsible to prevent brew group return to start position.
A better method is to open the machine using special key. Clean & lubricate the brew group. every two months. This will prevent Fungus and Bacteria growth. .

Check to see if there is a lever that may need pushed in as you put the tray bad in...not sure as many of the machines are different...but it's worth a try! :)
VPR is a pour over "Volume Displacement" brewer. Required to completely fill the inner tank and heat prior to using brewer. BEFORE plugging in unit, water must be poured into upper tray and with brew funnel and empty pot in place. Keep pouring water into top fill tray until water drips out of brew funnel. Plug in VPR and allow it 15-20 mins to heat up. leave the pot as there may be additional water dripping. Remove power if there is any water spilling out from other places like the top pan cover or bottom of machine. With the initial heating done, take a full pot of water and slowly pour into the top filling tray. HOT steaming water should come out of the brew funnel to fill the (empty) pot. Prep is done and the machine can be used to brew a pot after 10-15mins of reheat time.
*** the machine you have needs to be checked for leaks in areas mentioned above. Water should only come out of brew funnel (if not present then the brew head or if that is missing then the brew pipe. All will need to be replaced prior to brewing.) Leaking under machine is an indication of leak(s) in pour tray, tank, tank cover, gasket, probe gasket. This machine like any used equipment should be checked out by qualified tech prior to use. Be aware that coffee vendors sometimes rent or loan brewers to customers.
Malfunction 8 means that the brew unit can not get in the right position in the right time. This is usually because the brew unit is full of old coffee grounds. Try to shut down the machine for one day. The next day, take out the tray and clear out all coffeegrounds inside the brewunit. Use your fingers and maybe a small towel. You can do this right away, but it is easier when everything`s dried up. When all this is cleaned up, start manually a Cleaning program. This should solve your problem.
If it doesen`t, i could be that the o-rings inside the brew unit is defective and needs to be changed.
Malfunction 8 is related to the brew unit typically. It is usually an indication of the brew unit motor having to work too hard to move the brew unit up and down. This is usually cured by disassembling, cleaning, replacing any o'rings that may be bad, and lubricating the unit, then reassembly.
I have had to do this twice on an an E75 and an E8. I finally broke down and bought seal kits and lubricant for doing this. One could by a new brew unit off of e-bay and change out the whole thing. But a simple rebuild will typically suffice.
