I've had the phone for about a month and everything worked fine. Now, after a little while on the phone, the handset goes dead while talking. I don't seem to have the problem with the speaker phone. The person on the other line can hear me, but it's completely dead on my end.
Next time it goes dead, try wiggling the cord where it plugs in the handset and where it plugs into the phone. If the problem goes away, you will need a new cord.
Hope this helps, and if so, please rate my advice.

batteries are available from e-bay
one dead battery will not affect any others
all hand sets make calls and receive calls through the base unit that is connected to the landline
base unit is connected to the landline and operates any hand set that is picked up
make sure all handsets have the end call button pressed as one not pressed after use may keep a line open
call your provider to check the land line to your premises
borrow a neighbours phone and plug it into the socket and see it you get a line on their phone
We just had the same problem with our AT&T 2462 hand sets. They simultaneously stopped transmitting, and though we could hear the caller, no one could hear us on the other end of the line. We unplugged the base from the power source, took the batteries out of the hand sets, waited 20 seconds, then plugged everything back in and they worked just fine. Hope this helps.
Try them in intercom mode. If the flaky unit still does not work, the something along the microphone circuitry is likely dead. If its in warranty, get a replacement from the store or manufacturer.
After trying all the technician's suggestions had failed; I disconnected the base to return it to the store for replacement. Then I decided to try disconnecting and reconnecting power and phone line, placed handset back on base and the phone reset itself and is working fine...
Recap:
Disconnect power and phone line from base for about 30 seconds and reconnect both power and phone line to base and place handset back on base; it should reset...
if battery just replace battery but the head sets are compatible with other handsets of same ghz say 2.4 you just gotta set in base and let base recognize new hand set these phones are practically built the same way but only with new technology
