Screen Problems The back light has gone, But when shinning a light on it, it goes funny get loads of different coloured lines going down the back, before the back light went, i changed the lcd cable thinking it could be this, but apparantly not any help greatful, Thanks in advance

So fixing the fluorescent tube should heelp fix the problem with the weird coloured lines ??

The Backlight is a separate module actually called "FL Inverter" Its same logic like mobile Fluorescent tube. Most of the service centers keeps in stock as the issue is common regardless of brand. So whole module can be changed. Part is not really costly but workmanship might added on it. If you are able to replace I believe you can purchase the part as well.

LIGHT GONE IN SCREEN
With the unit turned on, turn off the lights and with a flash light shinning at the LCD screen, do you see any images ?

If so, the Back lights or inverter have gone south.

That is a cheap 17" unit and would not be worth the repair cost.

click start control panel,display,desktop you can select a different desktop from the drop down list
or a browse button where you can select different pictures this may vary depending on your operating system
also settings you can change the settings for more or less pixels or from the drop down list pick the appropriate level of color range or troubleshoot also select advanced then general dpi normal size,larger size or custom settings
always click APPLY after making any changes
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scoll to scroll to monitors + to expand plug and play monitor you might see a yellow question or exclamation mark ? or red x you will have to update the driver right click where you have options to update driver
if your computer came with a motherboard disk the drivers could be on it or you could download

cnetdownload.com on the home page you should see the download software finder under that there will be a list platform, category sub category price from the category drop down list select drivers then from the price drop down list select free or which ever applies to your need or major geeks download this graphics driver this will depend on your operating system

Funny colours on screen?

i have a very similar problem. ive had mine for 6 weeks, and the other day it started playing up. not all the time but now and again.
the screen goes weird like a very low resolution or goes all lines. when i cancel to the main menu and shut the phone for a min so the screen light goes off or black then re open it goes back to normal. now and again tho it crashes which is a pain. it seems like a software bug, im gonna wait for a software update.
if you havent had long its worth taking back to the shop. especially more so if its frequent!
