My recorder has stopped showing my local tv listings. It shows each channell name, but reads 'no listings' beside each one. It has worked fine for over a year. I tried turning off the power and disconnecting the cable, then restarting it, but no luck.
I spoke with Toshiba tech support today (800-631-3811). They have an advanced services team that focuses on TV Guide On Screen. Learned the following:
- The TV Guide On Screen signal is updated 4x / day and is broadcast by your service provider
- The broadcast channel varies depending on what the service provider chooses (though typically a major network or PBS station)
- TV Guide On Screen has been doing some reprogramming and updates recently and this has resulted in many sporadic outages
If you ARE not receiving your listings, it's one of two things - either your DVR or the signal from the cable company.
- If you are having issues, call Toshiba and let them know, they will walk through some basic troubleshooting to narrow down if the problem is the DVR or the TV Guide On Screen signal.
- If the issue is the TV Guide On Screen signal, they will be able to report the issue to TV Guide On Screen and let them know their is an issue.
After that - it's in someone else's hands!
I've had this issue several times. Everytime, it coincides with my cable service provider changing their lineup, or removing a channel to "encourage" me to use the guide that is available on my digital box (which is hooked up to my toshiba machine)
The sign that this has happened is simple: whenever my toshiba machine is turned off, the d-link starts trying each channel starting from channel 1 and going until channel 999, then starting back at one again.
I have to call up my service provider, and ask them to reset my digital box. If they have removed a channel, I have to ask them to give it back. Once this is done, I then have to go through the setup process again, and things are fine after that.
This has worked for me over half a dozen times...
Try hitting the "Setup" button, then moving over to the "Initial Settings" circle. Select "Guide and Clock reset". Yes, you'll have to wait the 24 hours for it to find your channels again, but at least you'll have them. I only found this out after having a digital box with IR blaster hooked up to the Toshiba. I eventually gave up on the digital box, but still had problems w/o the digital box...until I did this. Hope this helps!
My Toshiba has done this three or four times; sometimes it only shows half the channels available and sometimes it shows none. Now I just unplug it for 1/2 hour and it seems to restore itself. But don't just turn it off - you have to unplug it.
Good luck.
You need to reset the clock from the setup (not tvguide) and then after the power off restart it will prompt you to set up the tvguide again.
Or you could try setting your zipcode to 000000 and walk thru the setup for that zc. then do it with the real zip code.
I have used both
OK Everyone. I used the suggestion and reset everything. This doesn't work and I worse off then I began. I now can not record manual recordings because I have no channels at all.
Most like the problem is indeed with the signal from Macrovision not being delivered to the boxes. I have it two full nights and nothing has come through.
My advice, wait it out. Wait for your signal to come back and your box to start updating again

My Toshiba RD-XS35 has lost the ability to give a tv guide listing. It was acting up and making incorrect channel assignments and now wont give any lists "says no listings". Still works in manual record mode.
All of a sudden my RD-XS35 stopped posting the TV guide.
All of a sudden my RD-XS35 stopped posting the TV guide.
There are no TV listings - I have unplugged both the power and the cable but to no avail.
Please help me figure this out. I have had this HDD for at least a year, maybe 2 years.
Thanks
Carol
All of a sudden my toshiba RD-XS35 stopped showing the tv guide listing and then would completely freeze up
My XS-35 just stopped displaying the TV listings.
Following the manual/on-screen guide to power off, etc
does not solve the problem.
Any help is appreciated!
Same DVR - same problem - TV Guide On Screen stopped working and has not updated for a couple of weeks now. In fact, my Toshiba TV also has TVGOS and it failed at the same time and is not updating either. I hope someone reports the fix soon.
Mine stopped working a few weeks ago too... right around the middle of December... any solutions been found?
me too
Mine stopped around 12/20 - have tried re-renetering the zipcode, etc. via setup process to no avail. I went through a "reset" process via the menu (not through the TV Guide Screen) - this did clear out all my tv guide settings, but did not get me anything back.
Now - no channel listing through the guide OR listings (so I would NOT recommend that at this point!).
I have the same problem. I jsut tried this resolutiona llthough I will not be able to know if this worked or makes the prblem worse as this deletes the channel lineup and If it does not work, I can now no longer even schedule manaual recordings. I will come back and update everyone in 2 days after giving my thang time to download the guide all over again
FINGERS CROSSED!
everyone needs to know, the signal comes through the educational channel through the cable. If this signal is interrupted through a cable operator your screwed. This happened to me once before and Toshiba told me it was happening to others in my area. I am in Myrtle Beach SC. However the problem was eventually fixed or rather fixed itself and I give Toshiba credit because they called me up and told me, they got word of the problem being fixed in my area.(this was over a year ago) Mine just as everyone says stopped again around christmas 08. I suspect, the problem might have something to do with the xmas holiday and operations at the ed tv station. I do not think it is the cable operator. I will come back in two days to see if this solution worked. It might help if everyone tells what area of the country they are in and who their cable provider is I am in MB SC and my operator is Time Warner.
I have been having the same problem for over a month now, No listings, it's been very frustrating, Toshiba has been no help, my cable provider will not take responsibility, has anyone's come back yet?
Same problem, TV guide "no listing." This started about 3 weeks ago. Tried re-setting zipcode, still no listings. Thanks! My service is Charter Communication (cable) and we live in Richland, WA
I own 2 of these DVRs. One of them stopped getting updated listings. However the other one is updating correctly. Obviously the listings are being sent through the cable. I've tried resetting the zip code and it got updated listings but just for one day. I'm going to try shutting the DVR off and unplugged for several days and see if a full reset will help.
