Where to buy bypass plug/cap for LG Refrigerator Water Filter (part number: 5231JA2006B)
I totally aggree bypass the built-in filter on the lg and get a universal in line filter, do the math it all most cheaper to buy bottaled water all the same taste- u still change filer every 6 months but it's 10- year not 70 - 100- ,get real....
Is there a way to bypass the filter on a lg refrigrator?
I have been searched for awhile, no LG by pass for 5231JA2006A. I tried to modify the pipe at back of the refrigerator. My ice make did not get water and water dispenser works. Looks the diagram.... like this... ( by guess) ....
From supply ( bottom of the refrigerator), goes to top into filter. From filter, one goes to ice-mater. One goes back out to back and connect to water dispenser ... This sound not logic.... But looks like this.
I think I need to cut a used water filter and sealed inside to make a by-pass.
I just paid $78.00 for a filter for an LG fridge that i am going to take back/. $9.00 for inline replacement filters. Has anyone tried to unscrew the plastic cartridge. or modify it in any way. Someone should make and sell a plug in bypass.I am going to try to modify the old cartridge and I will repost if it works.

I have seen bypass plug in Kitchen Aid refrigerator, it is provided by manufacturer at the time of purchase. If one were to decide not to use filter and trust municipal water source, then they can use bypass plug instead of buying expensive filters.
