No, how these things can run fine without drivers? Your Laptop does not support Windows 7.

First of all where is this laptop used? On a hard surface or on your lap? I would invest in a notebook cooler you can get a decent one for about 20-30$. Secondly you may want to get some computer air and blow it into the vents on the laptop. Your last option would be to take it apart and clean out any dust thoroughly although this option is difficult and should only be done by a computer tech.

Check your internet settings connection, to dial up your connection to modem, if not function check it if wat is compatible to your pc notebook.

You'll need to download the appropriate drivers for your laptop model from the HP.com website
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp37501-38000/sp37859.exe

And you'll also need to install the Microsoft UAA Bus driver so that the modem and sound card can be detected and installed properly. Here's an entire forum thread on this subject, just go through the explanations and you'll do fine

HP came with OS/1 , Linux, Freedos, and all versions of windows ever made. (yours, I guess 3?)

use any win-based live cd [or transfer drive to desktop pc as secondary] to download newer drivers and override broken ones linux live cd may not work as may not read drivers correctly

to restart your HP Assistant you must first sure that you have install it in your system then go to control panel then open HP Wireless Assistant then check the properties then modify it. Then press the button with an antenna with a wave at the top to enable your wireless connection. Make sure that you enable your wireless connection for you to have HP Wireless Assistant.
