Not necessarily. You can use the normal connecting cable but you may not get HDTV picture. Better is to connect through HDMI cable where you can view HD pitures on the channels transmitting HD programmes

My VIZIO 1080P cannot connect thru HDMI cable To My Laptop

Just use the VGA/PC input instead. It requires an rs232 cable. It's HD and will automatically adjust the proper settings for the display.

How can i used my hdtv to a monitor

to use your HD tv as a monitor you will have to connect it to your computer with the VGA or the DVI connector. The back of your TV should have one of these. It looks like a rectangular connector with holes in it. This will connect up to the graphics card of your computer using the appropriate cable.

If your TV does not have this output you can go out and buy a VGA to S-video or VGA to aux/video cable.

Hope this helps

I have recently gotten a Sharp AQUOS Quattron (LC52LE810UN). I have a rogers cable box with a RCA input, but the tv doesnt not have an direct RCA input. It has a input for an audio cable with a component...

Your TV is a High-Def TV (HDTV) therefore you need a Rogers cable box and service capable of High-Definition in order to get the HD resolution you paid for with the HDTV. HD video requires HDMI or component video cable connections. Standard RCA AV (yellow, white, red) will not show HD video.

Having said that, you may want to hookup a game or VCR to the TV and therefore you will need to get a cable known as an AV miniplug. It has RCA (3) on one end for the VCR for example and on the other end is a Mini-plug to connect to the HDTV (Sharp). This cable is like the ones used on camcorders such as Sony. Make sure you get a cable with the right ends as depicted in your manual on page 14.

You'll have to Google online for a supplier. Sparco.com had these cables but are out of stock currently.

My 42 inch sylvania plasma tv does not have a coax connection, so how do i hook up my cable to the audio/video connection? i know there is an rf converter to transfer audio/video to coax but i really...

Since your TV only has audio and video input jacks, you can connect those to audio and video output jacks on the VCR. Now connect the coax cable to the RF/ant input on the VCR and you'll have to change channels by using the VCR channel selector.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

PS3 (Pal) won't connect to Sylvania HD TV

I just figured it out last night - if you have used your playstation on an hd tv previously, it is set at the highest resolution possible - 1080p. You need to take it back to that tv, and go to display settings on your tv. If you select HDMI as they type of connection you'd like to make, it asks you what resolution your tv supports. In your tv instruction guide, it should give you this information. Check mark all of the resolutions your tv supports, making sure not to confuse 1080i and 1080p. After doing this you can take it back to your other television and it should work.

This model only has an analog tuner, so you will require either a converter box or hi-def tuner after the transition.

Connecting TV to cable service for HDTV

normally you need a converter box for hd because normal stations are broadcasted in hd.....its not common enough for them to do it...and you probably have to buy a package with your cable company for the hd channels. another thing...is your tv hd ready?

HDTV

I don't think the DCT2244 has an RF bypass output and it is not HD enabled. Hence, you will need a cable splitter so that the unscrambled splitter outputs can go to the TV and the CABLE BOX independently. This will enable you to pick up any available unscrambled HDTV signals your provider offers as well as the channels you are subscribed to that require the box for decoding.
