Check the obvious, the coils underneath need to be cleaned, and the fan needs to be running. And check to see if there is a heavy frost on the back wall inside the freezer. If there is it could indicate a defrosting problem. Both will cause the temperature to rise. Also, be sure the fan in the freezer is running.

Food freezing in refrigerator

There has to be a balance between the freezer and the refrigerator because the refrigerator gets its cooling from the freezer, if you set the freezer to cold, the other side freezes,

PSC23NSTESS FREEZING VEGTABLES

Side by Side ModelsIf foods, such as fruits and vegetables, in the refrigerator are freezing, it can be caused by several things. First, check the controls. They should be set at "C" and "5" or "5" and "5". The proper fresh food temperature is between 38 and 42 degrees Fahrenheit. The freezer should be between 0 and 8 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • If food in the bottom of the refrigerator is freezing, this could be caused by a refrigerator not having enough food to absorb the cold air.
  • If food in the door is freezing, move the door bins up or down so they are one notch away from freezer vents (Side by Side models only).
  • The fresh food control should be at the normal setting of 5.

First, check the controls. They should be set at "C" and "5" or "5" and "5". The proper fresh food temperature is between 38 and 42 degrees Fahrenehit. The freezer should be between 0 and 8 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Since the cold air coming into the fresh food section originates in the freezer above, the rear of the top shelf will be the coldest spot in the fresh food area. Avoid placing delicate items that freeze easily on the back half of this shelf.
  • If food is freezing in the produce (fruits and vegetables) or meat pan, it may be that the temperature controls are not set high enough. Since cold air naturally falls, the pans can get too cold if the refrigerator is not running long enough to maintain good air circulation. Adjust both controls up one notch.

Freezer not freezing

If you can hear the motor running it could be the thermostat that has gone or if there is no noise at all it could be the motor that has died, a good easy fix ( sometimes works ) is to turn the freezer off leave it for 24 hours with no power then try turning it on again.

Refrig. is freezing food

Your problem is going to be with your damper if its a side by side, the damper is what will direct the airflow from the freezer section to the fresh food side. Often times the flap will break off or stick open allowing cold air to enter the ref section all the time. This will cause the food to freeze usually towards the top of the unit. Or possibly a bad temperature control causing the unit to run constantly.

6 yr old side by side inglis fridge/freezer. water

can be from an obstruction (i.e. food or debris) or incomplete defrost. water forms around the drain during defrost cycle and ices up when cooling cycle comes on. defrost the drain and try installing a heat probe part#819043 made by whirlpool.its a metal rod that wraps around the heater and goes into the drain opening to prevent the drain from icing up. hope this helps.

Running non stop!

Sadly these old freezers use way too much electricity. You will be better off junking this one and purchasing a good used or brand new one.
