After 7 years the capacitor is probably bad and wont hold the charge! Perfectly normal! :-) You need to take it to a reputable watch repair business and have them replace the capacitor. You can also send it directly to Citizen but they might be a little more expensive. Our business charges $45...that includes labor and it comes with a 1 year warranty. Just to give you an idea of what you might expect to pay. Could be more...could be less!

When we have a Citizen that needs repair beyond our capability we send to Torrance, CA location! :-)

Good luck!

Just purchased the men's Citizen's Eco Drive Nighthawk (Black) ca0295-58e and the second hand on the watch is not ticking. I previously set the date and the hour and minute hands have moved, but not much....

Put the watch in any form of light for some time. Sun is best but not necessary. When the second hand stops running, it is a sign that the capacitor is low. The eco drive is a solar powered watch. When exposed to light, it converts the energy from the light and stores it in an internal capacitor which is really a battery that will last about 20 years.

My three-year old (real) Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady Date Just started losing time after just six months. It would stop and start intemittently and lose a few minutes every hour. Winding did no good. I...

It seems to me that the company servicing your timepiece (Rolex or otherwise) must have missed something or did not properly service your timepiece.

You are correct that your watch should not require service every ten months. After servicing, your Rolex, like most all automatics, should run properly for 3-5 years depending on environmental conditions. Our Rolex service offers a one year warranty, and if any issues present within that time, the service is free.

I would recommend using a company that has a full time Certified Master Horologist on staff to service your timepiece that offers a warranty on their work. Thanks for the rating, and we are happy to help you and service your Rolex.

I was given a skyhawk eco drive watch from my late fatherinlaw, its brand new but it has been in its case(box)in dark for a long time and doesn't work...how do I get it going???

An Eco drive citizen is powered by the sun. You should take the watch out in the sunlight or put under a lamp to charge it for at least 12 hours. Once it is running you need to wear it to keep it running, you should be able to take it off at night and it will continue to run once it is fully charged. if it does not hold a charge over night after being fully exposed to light for 24-48 hours you may need to send it to Citizen for service on the capacitor. thank you!

How to a recharge a citizen eco drive silhouette ladies watch..model number sy2030-54E?

Do you mean, you haven't been wearing that watch but to put it in the drawer for a long time?
If so, to recharge the battery, just put your watch outside or anywhere it can catch the sun ray or day light. After few hours or about a day, the battery has been re-charged and your watch will work.
If it still doesn't work after doing that, buy a new watch. Don't bother to repair the watch or to replace the Eco-Drive battery, because of the cost.

I own a Citizen Eco Drive Calibre 8700 Blue dial Romen letters. I have not used it for very long time (6 months). Now when exposed to light only the second hand works but the minute hand and hour hand do...

If your watch was not stored where it could have light shining on it the LI battery would drain completely. There is a possible solution although it does not work all the time. It depends on how badly the battery has been allowed to drain.

Setup a lamp that will shine on a counter 24 hours a day and set your watch there. It helps if the lamp is about 1.5 - 2 feet above the watch. A 60 watt incand. lamp will work fine.

Leave your watch under this lamp for 3 - 4 days 24 hours a day. This will supply the solar cells with enough energy to recharge the battery and get it working again. If after this time it is still not working then the battery is just not going to accept a charge again or there is something else wrong that a watchmaker is going to have to fix for you.

Hope this helps.

Works fine when under the light but stops when I wear it.

Your capacitor will needs to be replaced. This usually has to be done about every 5-8 years.

Restarting my Citizen Promaster Eco Divers 200 Watch

Since it's eco-drive you can just wear it for a few hours and it should self-wind. The problem is that when it sits still for more than a few days it winds down. It gets its power from the natural movement of your wrist as you walk around.

Once it starts ticking again you'll just have to set the time correctly.
