You can remove that short length of pipe very easily. Just pull it away from the fitting at the vacuum end and unscrew it from the brush bar end. While you've got it off, check it for splits (which are common) and replace it with a new one if it is damaged.

Ensure the foot pedal is pressed down fully at the rear of the dyson and check the button beside the on switch is also pressed down ( it will not work properly standing vertical :-)

Why does my Dyson Dc-39 vacuum have good suction, but the beater bar barley turns?

Hi Greg, it's Jack at Dyson.

The brush bar in DC39's Triggerhead floor tool is driven by an airflow-powered turbine. If your vacuum has strong suction but the brush bar stalls on carpeting, it suggests something may be jamming the brush bar.

Follow the steps shown in our online support guide to remove the brush bar, clear any threads or hair from around the brush bar and endcap, and to check the cleaner head for other obstructions: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc39/dc39-animal/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/dc38th-removing-blockages

If you continue to have difficulty with the brush bar after completing these checks, I'm sure we can help you further. Please call our experts on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). If a replacement Triggerhead floor tool is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson parts and labour guarantee.

Dyson DC 25 power shuts off in upright position

To clarify, do you mean the suction and brush motion shut off in the upright position, or that the entire unit shuts off?

If the latter, most Dyson uprights shut off the brush unit in the full upright position and shunt the suction into the handle for use with the accessories. There is also an on/off for the brush, next to the main power button for the DC25. If it's off ( or stuck that way), no brush motion. The manual also notes, 'for use, turn on power and click the foot pedal in back to recline the unit.' (Link to manual here:
http://www.dyson.com/medialibrary/files/dyson/support/downloads/uk/floorcare/manuals/DC25_Manual.pdf See Page 8). The
'High Reach Cleaning' section also notes that the brush bar won't rotate when the vacuum is in the full upright position.

If you are completely losing power, the manual notes that the unit will shut off if the bar is jammed, or if there is a significant line blockage that makes the motor overheat. If this is happening, check the accessory line in the handle for blockage.

Good Luck :-)

My dyson dc 14 is not picking up as well as it should, but, suction still very strong when using hose with attachments, have checked belt and have checked for blockages. can any one help please?

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

I would check that the brush bar is turning when you have the cleaner in the vacuuming position. To check this, make sure the brush control dial (on the cleaner head) is in the centre position and when you release the head of the cleaner to vacuum, it should move forward to the "on" position. Lie the machine on its side keeping hands and loose fabrics away from the base, switch it on and see if the brush bar is turning.

If it is, you would need to check the machine through for a blockage and wash the pre filter. To so this, please refer to your user guide or check out www.dyson.com and visit the Support section which has lots of self help information to help resolve this issue.

I hope that this information is useful to you.

Kind regards

My dyson 17 dc is making a noise like a loose roller but it's tight. it sounds loud and vibrating type noise

Hi there, your machine is designed to make a ratchet noise if the brush bar is obstructed.

Please check to ensure that there are no blockages around the brush bar and that any hair or threads have been removed. If you need help with this, you can follow our self help guide in the support section at www.dyson.com.

I cleaned the roller on my Dyson DC 07, and after reassembly, it makes a sound like the belt is being chewed. I took it apart a couple times, goes back together fine, but still makes the noise

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Your machine is designed to make this ratchet noise if the brush bar is obstructed. We would recommend checking the brush bar and soleplate area and removing any blockages or hairs/threads that are wrapped around the brush bar.

Full details on these checks can be found in our Support section online at www.dyson.com.

Dyson Slim DC 18 all floors has no suction from the beater bar, but works great from the hose.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

Its possible that the brush bar is not turning when you release the head into the vacuuming position. Please ensure you complete a full blockage procedure as per your user guide to see if this resolves the problem. If you do not have a copy of the user guide to hand, please visit the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

My Dyson makes an almighty racket and its something to do with a ball bearing - can you help?

Hi there, if you have a machine where you can switch the brush bar on/off, the machine can make a ratchet noise if the brush bar become obstructed. Its designed to do this to alert the user that there is something stopping the brush bar turning.

We would recommend checking the brush bar and soleplate for blockages, details of the blockage procedure can be found in your user guide or in the support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

The brush bar on my Dyson DC17 stopped turning.

If this model has a brush control - i.e a roller at the side of the model which controls brush to spin or not, then its a protected brush model - therefore even if the drive belt is intact the Dyson would have to be repaired by a service personnel or professional. The brush protection isn't able to be taken apart and sounds like it may well have slipped off due to tension.
