Please help!!! Hello! I recently purchased a new Hitachi C21 F800S TV. However, I was not aware it was made in Japan. The company sent me an adapter for the extension cord. But, I can't figure out how to connect my cable service to the set. Could you please provide instructions to me, whether I need to buy another accessory piece, or what I can do? I haven?t had the opportunity to even see what the picture looks like yet.

I'm sorry but I do not understand. I am trying to connect my cable service, such as HBO, SHOWTIME, etc., but I don't know if I need to buy another adapter or what type I should buy, and where it should go on the back of the TV.

  • Lea J Feb 04, 2008

What is RCA's? How does cable service, like Comcast, Time Warner, Cablevision, etc., get connected to the TV? Please explain.

  • Lea J Feb 04, 2008

    Yes that is correct.

  • Lea J Feb 04, 2008

Okay, I appreciate the information. But does it work for the Hitachi C21 F800S TV model? I know how most tv sets have the outline that you sent. But this televison is completely different. So you are saying I need a coaxial cable, the one without the needle in the middle?

Hi,

What you need to connect your television:

  • A cable-ready television and the manuals that came with the set.
  • An RG6 quad shield coaxial cable with "F" connectors at both ends (This is a common cable that you probably already have.)
Getting your television connected:
  1. Plug TV into electric outlet.
  2. Connect one end of RG6 cable into the back of your TV and connect the other end of the RG6 cable into the cable jack of the EagleNet box. The EagleNet box is located on your wall. The cable connection has an icon of a TV above it.
  3. Turn TV on and set TV to "CATV" mode.
You must make sure the TV is set to CATV mode. Some TVs do this through an on-screen programming feature. Others have a switch on the side or the back of the TV set. Consult your TV's manuals.
  4. You should now see a clear picture.
    • If you don't, contact your R.A. or call x2-HELP (2-4357) to report a problem. If you call x2-HELP, staff may be on other calls. Leave a voice mail message with your name, phone number, residence hall, room # EagleNet box # and a brief description of the problem.
    • If you are only receiving the first 13 channels, your TV isn't in CATV mode yet. Check this first before you call for help.
    • If you are only receiving the first 35 or 36 channels, your TV is too old and isn't capable of receiving 60+ channels. If you have a cable-ready VCR, you can try using the VCR to tune the channels by connecting the VCR to the EagleNet jack and then the TV to the VCR. *See note below
If you have a VCR or DVD player:
  • You may need a 1000 mhz cable splitter. See notes below.
  • An RG6 quad shield coaxial cable (see above)
  • VCR or DVD Manual
  • Due to the vast variety of VCR and DVD Player types and functions, Information Technology Services cannot offer support for VCRs or DVD Players. Consult your owner manuals for assistance.
VCR/DVD notes:
  1. Plug VCR or DVD Player into electric outlet.
  2. Connect one end of RG6 cable into back of the VCR/DVD and connect other end of into the TV.
Do you need a "splitter"?
A spliter is a small device which allows you to connect two cable devices to the same cable line. You will need this splitter if you want to watch one station and record another at the same time. The setup varies with model of VCR or DVD Player. Any electronics store will have splitters available and can help select the right one.

    Hooking Up

How do I hookup my TV or VCR to receive UTV cable services?
    Cable
TV service is already activated in your room - you do not need
to call anyone for activation. All you need to do is connect
your cable-ready TV or VCR to your room's wallplate using a coaxial
    cable.

    How to hookup my VCR?
If you are connecting your VCR to receive UTV cable services, just
connect your coaxial cable from the wallplate to your VCR INPUT.
Then connect another coaxial cable from the VCR OUTPUT to the
    INPUT on your TV.

Yes, To make the 3 wire hookup since the set has no co-ax input. You'll have to run the cable to another device like a VCR then run the RCA's to the set

Yes, the cable service is using a black co-axial wire that has a screw on coupler? And there is no place on the TV that this fits correct?

  • Anonymous Feb 04, 2008

Okay, You need to have another device like a VCR that has that connection, (most do). Connect youe cable to the VCR then you can run 3 wires from the back of the VCR to the set. They are usually color coded, Yellow, Red and White. The plugs on the set should have the same marks

  • Anonymous Feb 04, 2008

Okay, I found the specs on your TV from the Singapore Hitachi site. The TV does have the co-axial input on the back that should fit the black line with the screw on connector. If your cable box has a different connection than the single line with the 'needle' let me know
