EOS 30D - after I downloaded some photos I disconnected the camera but the blue Print/Share light stayed on. Nothing would turn it off except taking the battery out, but when the battery was replaced the light would come back on and the camera would otherwise be inoperative. Now, even with a freshly charged battery the camera won't do anything at all - it is completely dead, no lights, nothing. Help!
Canon EOS 30d camera blue Prut light want go off. The display want come on. A matter if fact nothing but the blue print light comes on.
When you disconnected the camera, did you use the "safely remove hardware" icon at the bottom right of your computer screen or did you just yank out the cord?

It only takes once for you to realize the importance of the procedure.
Well, let's try some things. Clean the battery contacts in the camera with a cotton swab lightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. Insert the battery into the camera and try to turn it on. If it does, go into the menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. If it won't start, remove the card and battery, press all the buttons, leave it alone for 20 minutes, turn it on. If it turns on, format the card in the camera (be sure the photos are safely downloaded using a card reader if necessary). Let me know what happened.
You might want to get an estimate from an independent or local camera repair shop and from Canon...compare them and decide if it's worth it. Or, put the old boyfriend to rest completely and spring for a new camera.

I think you can probably guess - I went for the yank option. I have to say it's never been a problem before and MS XP doesn't normally seem to mind (I know Apple computers like to be asked first).
I followed your suggestions - for which, thanks - very closely, even changed the battery for a newly-charged one and tried different memory cards - absolutely nothing, I'm afraid.
It's my wife's camera (given to her by a former boyfriend, as it happens) and I suspect it is looking like a case of buying a replacement or sending this one to Canon, whichever is cheaper.
