Check your humidistat and it should click close to what you have it set on. Also if your humidifier is not working you can rub your sock feet on the carpet and touch a door knob and get a little shock.

My humidifier is not working first times worked great

The manufacturer states you can use tap water in these devices, but then goes on the disclaim that if you have water with minerals or hard water then white "dust" deposits can occur. Theses deposits are supposed to be noted and if seem, you are to change to filtered or distilled water or purchase one of their filter cartridges. These devices use very tiny holes to produce the mist you get out of them. It takes almost nothing to clog them. You should always use distilled water in these devices to prevent clogging. They also require very regular cleaning to stay clean and thus prevent them from becoming mold fountains. White vinegar and water should be used for cleaning. Avoid detergents as they can gum up the inner workings of the unit.

I WAS GIVEN THE COW HUMIDIFIER AS A GIFT WHICH WAS A HAND ME DOWN AND I DONT KNOW HOW TO WORK IT.. PLEASE HELP

Hi, Looks like this should be easy to operate. These are the only directions I found for this humidifier: This Crane humidifier operates with cold tap water. Just fill the 1 gallon tank in the sink (fits most common sized sinks) and switch the unit on. The Cow Humidifier will produce cold mist instantanously. The mist output can be regulated with the control button located at the front.
Hope this helps! Hal

We have a Sunbeam Cool Mist Ultrasonic Humidifier that we bought just over 2 months ago. Up until a couple of days ago, it was producing mist and running just fine. I cleaned it with the brush and got the...

I have this same problem. And cool mist humidifiers DO produce mist. I have had my humidifier for a while now (6 years) and have never had any problems. But after the most recent cleaning, it worked at first, but now seems to not be working anymore... Am also wondering if there is anything I can do to remedy the situation?

Family Care cold mist humidifer

cool mist humidifiers don't put out any mist. only the warm ones do. now if you put your hand over the area where it's coming out for about 2 minutes and take it away your hand should feel damp. almost clammy. if it feels like that the unit is working fine. so your not doing anything wrong. if you have any other concerns please let me know.

No mist!

unfortunately on a cool mist unit the mist shouldn't show up. on most units that's what it does. the warm mist units show the mist.. the best way to tell is if you put your hand over the spout that the mist is suppose to come out of for about 2 minutes and you pull it away and it feel clammy then it's working. if your hand is still dry please let me know and i'll see what else i can do for you.

Sunbeam ultrasonic humidifier runs but produces no mist

It sounds very much like the transducer has failed. This is likely a crystal transducer and since they produce the agitation that should cause a mist, they are running continuously; not a good thing for something that is trying to shake iteslf apart all the time. These require input from a circuit that produces the fairly high level of power needed to drive the crystal so it could also be the source of the problem.
This isn't something an owner is able to diagnose unless they have some technical training.

Produces a ton of white dust... Why???

Your V5100N ultrasonic humidifier generates a fine mist by vibrating the water at an exremely high speed. The water doesn't actually evaporate until after the water mist is in the air. As the tiny water droplets evaporate in the air, the calcium and other minerals settle on your floors and furniture.

Humidifiers that evaporate the water in a filter wick, or with heat, do not generate dust because the water evaporates inside the unit and the calcium is trapped inside.

You can avoid the dust problem with your humidifier by using distilled water. Distilled water is available in most stores that sell bottled water in gallons...but be sure to choose "distilled" water, not "purified" water. Try the distilled water in your steam iron also...if you have one. It will last longer.
