I had setup parental passwod on my Archos 605, and now when i try to enter the passcode, it says unvalid code. Can you please help me on this as this is freaking me out as I am not even able to format my disk.

yup, I had put in th eparental control. I am not sure how this reset for to factory seeting. but i do recall a powerfailure when i my archos was connected to DVR station. Weird!!!Thanks Chrazer...it was the same solution provide by archos support and it worked :)

I have an archos 705 with the same problem. The only difference is, is that i did not put a parental lock on. As it is new i just went into settings and press the parental control in the list but did not touch the no. key pad. now everytime i come out of the archos and go back into it the key pad pops up for a code which i never put in, in the first place. I have same problem story with you guys, Now I could not to connect my Archos to Computer with USB because it promted me to enter the code,
Since I purchase this gadget I never make any parental code on it.

Archos so called customer service are totally useless, I have emailed them three times regarding this problem and they have never replied.
This is my first and last Archos!!
Forget emails and just phone them on 0207 949 0115 between 8.00am and 6.00pm
They worked out a code straight away (4849) and it unlocked my 605.

Hi, try the following the code is only a parental lock so give the master code a try below
1. Bring up a screen where the unit asks you to enter in the parental code. You can either insert a restricted disc, or enter the DVD setup menu and go to "parental control" under custom setup.
2. When the screen asks for the code, press the SELECT button, then enter in the code "7444".
3. The level adjustment under Parental Control dictates the strictness of the player. The lower the value, the more strict it will be. Either increase the value to lower the restriction, or disable the lock entirely by setting it to "off".
4. Once you have made your adjustments, be sure that the DVD tray is empty, and press the RESET button on the front of the Playstation 2. It is imperative the tray is clear of any DVD or game for the unit to save your settings.

Archos.com FAQ says I forgot what the 'Parental Code' is. Where can I get it?The factory default code is "0000". If you have changed it and forgotten it, then you'll have to contact our Technical Support and give your 'Product key' (number of the device). The 'Product key' is found under MENU > Settings > Software and Plug-ins.
If you forgot your password for this feature, press the following
buttons on the remote, one at a time. (Note: You must be in the
password entry screen) Press, Mute, Display,Clear and Reset, this
unlocks parental controls and you can now re-enter a new password. OR TRY THIS.. Press
and hold Menu on the TV AND volume down on the remote for 3 seconds.
Nothing will appear on the screen, and the Parental Controls will
unlock, and you can re-enter a new password with the LOCK PARENTAL
CONTROLS
Standard the code is 0000.
If you don't have created one.
The reason why this shows up has to be in Settings -> parental control.
If the mode is adult, you can see everything, in child mode some files can be blocked if you want.
You just need to switch back to adult, code 0000
If the code is wrong, it was set before, then you need to contact support to get you a new one or unlock this code.
