I have a combination/key Sentry safe. I opened it and when I went to close it, the door handle was up and would not depress the lock. So, with the door open and the key turned to the right and pulled out, I entered the code and got the green proceed light. I tried to open the door handle but it would not work. Does anyone have any advice? Thanks!
I have a different model but I had the same problem. Called customer service and they had me push up on the handle and enter the code. That didn't work but then they had me tap the safe with a rubber mallet 5 times above the panel and 5 times to the right of the panel. That worked for me. Hope one of those works.

Try new batteries??
To close and lock
You can relock the safe in two ways. With the door
closed, depress the key lock (if equipped) with your
finger, or spin the combination dial one full turn.
For greatest security, do both. (Make sure the door
handle is in the horizontal position.) There is a link to the manual at the bottom of this page...

New batteries worked! Thanks!
We have same problem and found another site that list out many others with same problem. they were told by Sentry to change batteries, pull off cover to check for wiring problems, and in final solution, get out a rubber mallet and wack the handle carefully (downward). Basically, we have a piece of poo for a safe and nothing we can do beyond the first year of ownership.
Key door will open with the key only. The digital code is not required
