First, make a backup of your files (external disk-drive, or DVD-writable disks), and verify that another computer can read your files.

Some laptop computers have a "slice" of the hard-drive that contains a "System Recovery Partition". Restart your computer, and see if the first start-up messages say anything like "press F12 to access System Recovery".

If there is no such partition or capability, find the original Acer set of CD-ROMs, and reinstall Windows. If you have misplaced those CDs, order a replacement set from ACER. Since your computer was shipped with Windows pre-installed, you have the right to reinstall, and the replacement CDs will be available at a "small" price (usually $20 plus courier-shipping).

Boot from those CDs, and reinstall.

    > restoring factory defaults will not fix this problem.

Nonsense. Reloading Windows will "wipe" all traces of the computer-virus from the disk-drive.

    > try Spybot or Adware (did you mean AdAware???)

These tools try to remove the "known" type of "pest" software.

They will *NOT* be effective against a computer-virus.

Hello,
Restoring factory defaults will not fix this problem. You need to run software to clean out the virus or format your entire hard drive.
You can try running Spybot or Adware.
Good luck

I want to restore my dell vostro 3500 to factory image

You'll need restore disks or if there is a restore partition on the hard drive then you can restore it from there. It will be less problematic to get some anti virus software to rid the computer of a virus.

My computer has 38 viruses

save anything important to a disk or usb drive. restart your computer and press alt f-10, it will start the system restore process to reset your computer to factory settings...erasing whatever viruses you have. although im guessing you were told this by a anti-virus software company that loaded itself onto your computer and wants you to buy their software to get rid of the viruses..its a scam..they put the viruses there in the first place. once you reset your comp, you can go to cnet.com and download avg antivirus free edition. that should take care of those kinds of things.

My mini netbook has virus and it is not letting me to open anything. i have macafee on it, but still unable to do perform anything. How i can remove the virus from netbook? OR how can i restore it to...

Be sure your firewall is activated. You can chose to use the windows firewall pre-installed on your Netbook or you can activate the firewall in you anti-virus package.
Run a cleaning software designed for detecting spyware on a regular basis to maintain Netbook processing speed and to remove items picked up by your Netbook while surfing the web. CCleaner is a solid free version of spyware cleaner.
If you suspect malware on your computer because it is running slowly, has strange pop ups or the anti-virus software detects it, then download software designed to find spyware and eliminate spyware. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, A-squared Free and SuperAntiSpywate Free are free versions of adware removal tool to consider. These tools get rid of spyware when used individually or in tandem. Continue to run the software until all spyware, viruses and malware are removed.

How To Use the Restore Factory Settings CD
1. Make sure to transfer all of the files you want to keep to a USB memory stick or burn to a CD.
2. Put the Restore Factory Settings CD into the CD drive. This CD was packaged with your computer.
3. Confirm you want to restore the factory settings. The computer will begin restoring all settings. Don't disturb your computer, as this process can take several hours. .
4. Reboot the computer to complete the process.

I have alot of viris in my computer i want to remove them and restore to factory settings

Before doing naything as radical as retoring to factory settings, why not try and get rid of the viruses by using a command line virus scanner, which does not install to the hard drive and therefore does not get attacked by any viruses and disabled. I'd recommend Panda or DRWEB...

If you want to restore to factory settings, you need to see if the laptop has a recovery partition on the hard drive that can be accessed at boot. this will restore all the settings

The last option is to reinstall windows using the cd. Go through the install proceedure until you get to the point that it "finds" an existing windows installation and then allow it to repair it

I recently acquired a virus that I'm unable to remove from my netbook. Can I restore my netbook to factory settings to remove this virus? If so, how can I do this?

Yes ACER has a factory backup on the 160gb versions like urs. Good luck calling their tech support their complete useless idiots. I had to go through 2 days of searching to find the F key boot restore feature. You have to hold down an F key and another key I was thinking the ctrl while in preboot. I cant remember exactly but u can surf google and find it like I did. But yes a format will get rid of a virus.

Virus infected

Hi,the best and only way to get rid of a virus on your phone is to flash the entire ROM(random operating memory) of the phone, the flashing process is a process which formats and restores the phone's factory setting and makes it look like a newly purchased phone,

However, this involves high skill and technicality,so consult a qualified technician,to carry out this flashing process.

Thanks and take care

How do i restore factory setting ,i have da back up cds

Go to Start>Run type in msconfig and hit enter. In the startup disable all. Restart. On another machine download Combofix to a thumb drive/USB key and transfer it to infected machine. Run Combofix following instructions to the letter. Reboot. Download Malwarebytes to a thumbdrive/USB key from another pc and run on the infected one. Check Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Lan settings and make sure proxy settings are not checked. That should make it okay to run your virus programs.
