Hi I am trying to set up my mail on my apple computer and I am able to receive mail from it but not send mail, in order to do so I have to go to yahoo mail and do it from there
Sounds like your "Outgoing" mail server settings aren't correct.

It's asking for a password that you use to login to get your e-mail. Mow, do you have a regular "Yahoo!" account or a "Yahoo! Plus" e-mail account? Be sure that your e-mail program is set to use port 25 on the "Outgoing Mail Server". And depending on which account you have, use or don't use the "Authentication".
Try to uncheck the "SSL" , the regular "Yahoo!" mail doesn't use any extra security, like, SSL, Authentication, etc..

Yahoo Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.mail.yahoo.com (port 25)
Notice, that there are no settings for security. Be sure your not using the SSL or anything

In order for your e-mail to function, these settings have to be right. If not, it just won't work.
Go to the email account properties and then the server tab. There you should see the settings for that e-mail account.

Hi again now a box has popped up saying Mail was unable to connect to server smtp.mail.yahoo.com using SSL on the default ports. Verify that this server supports SSL and that account settings are correct?
