Have them check the video card, That's probably why the weird colours are popping up.

SAFE MODE

1) Place you finger on the on/off sensor keep it their until your console turn off. Remove your finger.

2) Place you finger back on the on/off sensor keep it their until you hear 2 consecutive beeps then take your finger off.

3) Choose the last option PS3 SYSTEM RESTORE.

NOTE: A system restore will delete all saved game data. It is recommend backing up your console if possible.

Blu-ray playback freeze

1st DO NOT EXPOSE THE BLU-RAY FOR ANY REASON - You run the risk of blindness and radiation exposure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please advise what FirmWare Version you are currently running on. You can find this under;
Settings>System Settings>System Information.

Once I have this info I will provide you with the best fix if needed but It is probably down to out of date drivers. There have been a number of changes to the blurays drivers recently and if these havent been updated then this will most likely be your problem. To solve this all you need to do is take your system online and download the newest FirmWare update. - There are people who NEVER use the system online for different reasons. Since you brought the system BluRay has gone through 4 upgrades. Any BluRays you buy now wll likely be incompatible for playback with the drivers you have on your system.

If you need any further advice on getting online with thew PS3 please post it as a new issue and I will help you - but the PS3 talks you through it to be honest

My playstation 3 wont recognize any games or movies when inserted.

If your PS3 is not reading disc, but can play demos, music, etc. You need to replace your PS3's lens.

If your machine is still in warranty, they will replace it free of charge to your door.

DMC4 freezing up on my PS3

If your PS3 is only freezing up on that particular game then I would get a replacement.

It also could be because your console is overheating.

Make sure that you have it in an open environment instead of surrounded by things that may block air flow and suffocate the system. I would suggest buying an inter cooler .

The best, in my opinion, is the one made by Nyko.

PS3 No signal to the TV

I'm having similar problems. I had my PS3 on pause, whent out for a couple hours, came back to find a weird fuzzy screen. My PS3 had froze, so I turned it off. I turned it on a couple minutes later, and the green light came on, however, my controllers would not connect, no image was popping up and it also wouldnt turn off unless I flicked the switch on the back. After contacting Sony, they told me it could be an overheating issue. If it has been less than a year, they will replace it, NOT FIX IT. Which is great and all, but unfortunately I am about to lose the countless hours I've put into assassins creed, skate, call of duty 4 and motorstorm.

HOWEVER. If your PS3 is still "functioning properly" except for no signal, turn the power off on the back, turn it back on, press and hold the power button on the front untill you hear the second beep, let go, give it a couple seconds, turn it off from the back and then back on, hold it till the second beep again. Good luck.

P.S. I recomend getting the extra cooling fan for it, and saving game data on another card (SD) incase crap like this happens.
