No water running to dishwasher

One day the I turned on the dishwasher and it sounded different. So I looked inside and there was no water! I tried to reset it a couple of times. But still not working. Any suggestions where to start? Could it be a water pump? The dishwasher is only a couple of years old.

I had this problem and almost tossed this thing out the window. The water stopped pumping into the washer but the cycles kept on going... HERES HOW YOU FIX IT!! In the front bottom right you see the mushroom shaped float..... on the underside of the dishwasher you see that is pushing down on a switch. Its a simple little switch but the plastic pin connected to the float is easy to knock off the switch witch always leaves it in the up position !!! this is telling the washing machine that it is full of water. Find a way to keep the plastic pin on top of the metal switch and this will fix your problem. I used tape with a small piece of paper to keep from sticking to the pine or switch!!

Have a Hobart ecomax 452/502 dishwasher.. using too much auto liquid.... about 4 litres a day...

Remove the auto liquid , replace with water.
Start a washing cycle, wait two minutes till you hear the water filling inside. Open the door and pour a litre or so of Vinegar inside the machine. Let the rest of the cycle run.

This should clean out the inside of the machine if its not too bad. Otherwise you will have to find the "chemical sensor" and mechanically clean whatever is stopping it from sensing the water. It usually looks like two pencil ends about an inch apart.
If your machine looks "white" inside when its dry (from hard water) you might need a stronger cleaner than vinegar, or just try using two litres.

Start button flashes green but does not turn on. cancel button works for 2 minutes ( sounds like it is trying to drain) then shuts off. still can run the dishwasher. if I press any other button, such...

most likely you have answered your question already... the drain pump is either obstructed or has failed... these units these days have plastic impellers inside and often go bad causing the drain motor to go bad... if the unit does not drain it will not allow the unit to run... is there water in the dishwasher? if it is empty of water then it sounds like you have a bad control or what is called a pcb board on unit

Running but not cleaning

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. First of all please check the Water temperature by using a thermometer inside the dishwasher to measure the water temp. It should be as close to 125 degree F to 140 degree F as possible. Now try using the temperature boost feature if your dishwasher is equipped with this cycle feature and check if this will help your wash ability issues.

Now check the Powder soap by making sure that you store your soap in a dry environment and it is not stale and clumping together. Possibly try a different detergent like a liquid or gel. Also, make sure the dishes are loaded properly, or dishwasher is not overloaded.

To check the proper filling dishwasher will fill with water up to and around the heating element. If water is more below the heating element, you may have low water pressure or a problem with the fill valve. Try & listen if it sounds like it is spraying the water around with enough pressure.

For low water pressure, try to clean the screen at the entrance of the fill valve, sometimes the fill valve can fail and not allow the proper water into the dishwasher and may need to be replaced. And, check the spray arm and pump cover for splits or leaks. Also make sure that the water is draining and is not accumulated in the dishwasher, if it is in dishwasher then check for clogged drain hoses and drain pump.

Low water fills are a very common trouble maker with today's dishwasher.

Please do rate this solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

My superba dishwasher leaves a heavy film on the dishes. Sometimes it is black as though there was dirt in it. I use Cascade and electrosol jet dry. melody

Hello, Over time dirt and grime both from the dishes and from the chemicals in the water build up in your dishwasher, you can resolve this by going to Wal-Mart, K-Mart or your local grocery store, their is a product that comes in a square bottle, it is in your dishwasher soap isle, you empty your dishwasher and take the cap off, tip it upside down inside your silverware tray, turn your hot water on in your sink and get it hot, then turn it off, turn on your dishwasher and run it from the pots and pans setting, it will clean the scum out of the dishwasher, I reccomend useing it every 30 days to keep your dishwasher clean and opperating efficiently, also you can remove the arm in the bottom of the dishwasher and clean that out by gripping the big ring at the base of the unit and turning it counter-clock wise and to clean it use a toothpick or q-tips to clean the debris from the holes in the arm, then install it back after you rinse the arm in the sink............hope this helps.........

Food is being shot into the top rack and getting stuck inside the glasses. It is a brand new dishwasher-had it for a week. We have tried different settings on the dishwasher and different detergents

It sounds like you have a great deal of water pressure which a plumber may be able to address.
Otherwise, This may sound simplistic but it may be easier to hand rinse the dishes that have a lot of food still on them before they are placed into the dishwasher.
Good luck. :)

Dishwasher won't clean properly anymore.

sounds like the hose is clogged... i used to fix these.
first check to make sure the drain inside of the dishwasher (located on the bottom usually towards the back) does not have food clogging the drain. if there is nothing there than its more than likely a hose underneath the dishwasher. make sure you turn the water off before trying to fix this.

Dishwasher not filling with water

My GE Nautilus, Serial # GSD363F00W, Model # LA774908 is about 3 or 4 years old. I use it at least once a day. It has been working fine. Today I turned it on, red light came on, and I heard activity of some sort inside machine but no water came. Turned washer off, looked inside, no water. Turned machine back on, again heard some sort of activity but again no water came. Tried twisting the dial through the washing cycles, detergent cup dispensed detergent and dry heat come on, but no water.
