I can't open the DAP-1150's web browser-based configuration utility. I've gone through all the troubleshooting steps in the manual (verify physical connectivity, disable firewall temporarily, reset IE Internet Options, etc) but still get an "unable to connect to webpage" message in IE8 when I type in http://dlinkap in the address bar. What have I missed? How do I get to the configuration utility?
Thanks for the quick reply Geekman! Your suggestion alone didn't solve the problem. I checked Whirlpool forums as well and found that I needed to give my pc a static IP first. Thenhttp://dlinkap worked fine. Thanks for the quick reply Geekman! Your suggestion alone didn't solve the problem. These answers on all these sites are very confusing. Here's what I did to solve the issue of not connecting with a browser. 192.168.0.50 does not work nor does http://dlinkap.local. or whatever else is printed on the device. On my PC that is hard wired to my router, I logged into my router, checked which wireless devices were connected and found that dlinkap (note this is not the SSID that is printed on the device) was assigned 192.168.0.4. Set my browser to 192.168.0.4 and off we go to configure the extender.
That is because your laptop has the saved connection history that you need to delete. Since your acces point does not have security which is not the same as the one that saved from your laptop. Therefore, your laptop won't be able to connect. Go to network and sharing center and from the left side of the page that came up look for change wireless adapter settings and click it. You will be able to see the connections that was saved and the top one would be your connection name. Delete that and close everything. Try connecting to your wireless network again and that should resolve the issue.
Reset the device, unplug all network cable before power on (to turn off dhcp function). After that connect the network cablethe ip device should 192.168.0.50 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0. Set your computer ip address to 192.168.0.xxx where xxx is not 50. Access the device via your web browser, the login page should be apear. User : admin, password : leave it blank
You cannot configure the DLink by the URL address http://dlinkap?
You connect a LAN cable from your computer to the DLink.
Then open Internet Explorer and enter the URL http://192.168.0.1
the default login = admin
the PW is blank (just press Enter)
You can now configure the DLink.
Note: Not all D-Link routers, print servers and access points have a web-based configuration utility. Please check the manual for your particular product. In particular, the DWL-900AP does not have a web utility while the DWL-900AP+ does have a web utility. You cannot gain web-based configuration utility functionality for the DWL-900AP by installing the DWL900AP+ utility.
When entering the IP address of the D-Link device (192.168.0.1 for example), you are not connecting to a website on the Internet or have to be connected to the Internet. The device has the utility built-in to a ROM chip in the device itself. Your computer must be on the same IP subnet to connect to the web-based utility.

Thanks for the quick reply Geekman! Your suggestion alone didn't solve the problem. I checked Whirlpool forums as well and found that I needed to give my pc a static IP first. Thenhttp://dlinkap worked fine.
