I have a 32" Sylvania HDTV and want to connect some old sony speakers that i have to it. i have two cords with one end being RCA and the other end being plain speaker wire. when testing the speakers and wires they seem to work fine, but when connecting them to the HDTV audio output i cant get anything out of them. Any thoughts?

its not worth even trying to repair the cba. All those units are disposable.

I just figured it out last night - if you have used your playstation on an hd tv previously, it is set at the highest resolution possible - 1080p. You need to take it back to that tv, and go to display settings on your tv. If you select HDMI as they type of connection you'd like to make, it asks you what resolution your tv supports. In your tv instruction guide, it should give you this information. Check mark all of the resolutions your tv supports, making sure not to confuse 1080i and 1080p. After doing this you can take it back to your other television and it should work.

Hi, Ok, I now understand what the problem is. Sorry I missed the fact that it is due to no audio outputs on the TV. The audio board is designed to power low impedance speakers and doesn't have a big power amp to drive them. I do not have a schematic of that particular TV so I do not know how the headphone jack is wired. The way it basically works is, when you insert the plug, the tip pushes a contact away from another contact thus making one circuit and breaking another. You can test this externally by inserting an unwired plug or look at it from the inside and bridge the tip connection. I would only advise this if you have some technical skills. Other than that the thing is working like it was designed, they don't want you to use both. Sorry, I hate to give this type of news, but I am one of the only ones who will. Good Luck to you!

Sounds like a bad power supply or a bad power control board/circuit board. This seems to be a bit common with these lcd's.
