I have the same problem but can not seem to locate the part anywhere. Panasonic says no longer available. There has to be somebody that has one

Same problem. Lightly used product for three years. Display just kicked it today.

Sounds like this is widespread. Unacceptable. Panasonic needs to make this right.

Could be an easy fix. Try shorting across this fuse protector IP1280 (looks like a resistor) on the power board. See more detailed solution I posted in this forum for a similar question. No Display - 4a63623.jpg

I've jumpered the fuse protector IP1280...it is a yellow resistor looking thing...and, IT WORKS!!! The display functions normally. Now, the next question...is it okay to leave it jumpered? Could I just solder the jump and not have a fuse protector there at all and be okay?

  • Anonymous Feb 18, 2012

I jumped the IP1280 as well and display is now working again. Not sure if it is OK to leave like this or not? Just twisted it until the two wires made contact.

  • Anonymous Feb 18, 2012

PS, the actual display board itself looked like something shorted out as it looked burnt under the display. not sure what caused this but guess the fuse protector did it's job?

That is normal. The display is a vacuum tube. The 'getter' to remove impurities. Same reason vacuum tubes have mirrored glass on the top.

No Display - 2_18_2012_7_03_11_pm.jpg

This is what my display board looked like, thought the problem was here but jumping the fuse protector on the back as already posted solved the problem. Any ideas what might have caused this? Power surge??? All other appliances are fine, no recent power outages here.

That is normal, the display s a vacuum tube. All tubes have a "getter" to remove impurities. It is why tubes have mirror appearance on top.

Need Help

This is a major defect in the SA-HT830V dual deck that Panasonic did not honor! I've had two of these and the full lighted display blew out on both of them and one music channel does not work on the dvd player anymore. Piece of junk and I'm very upset with Panasonic for not helping/supporting their products!
