GE spacesaver stack washer & dryer: The

GE spacesaver stack washer & dryer: The washer won't engage the drain or spin cycle. I've checked the switch on the lid, and when the lid is closed and you turn the knob to the "drain/spin" cycle, the motor hums, but no action. I have pulled the knob to off immediately, for fear of burning out the motor. What's going on?

What are some reasons why my GE stacked washer stops after spin cycle?

Katary, first it sounds like it is a bad drain pump. to access drain pump you need to remove the front panel, to remove the front panel there are 2 screws at the very bottom of the front panel near each corner. Once removed the bottom pulls out and the panel will lift up 90 degrees before being able to be removed from the top "hinge" point. Once removed you will see 2 large rubber hoses, 1 short and 1 long, in between the two is your electric drain pump. It should be on and "humming" during the spin cycle. appliancepartspros.com have that pump for $106.00

Washer won't spin after rinse cycle

Hello Dorothy - Does the drain pump make a humming noise? If so, there may be a restriction in the drain line or siphoning. Otherwise since it is such a complex unit I would recommend contacting a professional to have either the pump or timer diagnose.

My GE SpaceSaver Washer/dryer will wash, but when it's time to rinse and spin the machine stops. It will not drain, riinse , or spin.

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Drum knock when spin cycle

Hello.
Noises are common when using a two-in-one washer and dryer, as clicking or whirring is part of the cleaning process during the transition to the next cleaning process. The GE Spacesaver washer and dryer combo uses a top-loading washer stacked beneath the front-loading dryer, and uses an agitator that makes noises throughout the spin cycle. Although whirring or clicking is normal, other noises or malfunction indicates a problem with the washer that requires minor troubleshooting. Professional repair is necessary if the washer continues to experience problems during the spin cycle, as there may be a problem with the washer's agitator.
1 Open the washer's door and check the balance of the load's clothes. Clothes that are unevenly distributed around the agitator cause excessive shaking and result in an imbalance during the spin cycle. Reduce the load's size by removing clothing if the washer's drum is overloaded.
2 Push "Start/Pause" to pause the spin cycle and turn the washer's cycle knob to the "Off" position. Turn the knob to "Spin Only" and press "Start/Pause" to reset the cycle.
3 Turn the wrench counterclockwise or clockwise around the unit's legs to adjust the appliance's balance. The legs are adjustable with the help of a wrench to ensure the unit does not shake while in use. An unleveled unit shakes as it spins, and causes excessive squealing or rattling as it attempts to dry the clothes.
4 Touch "Start/Pause" on the front of the washer's control panel and unplug the washer/dryer unit's power cord from the electric oultlet. Wait two minutes and plug the power cord back into the electric outlet. Push "Start/Pause" to resume the spin cycle.
Thanks.

GE washer will not go to spin cycle or drain.

Possible lid switch not fully engaged. It will no drain or spin if lid switch is not fully engaged. I would also check the drain line for pluggage.
