Hi
We have a Challenge dehumidifier model no 4151319 and it does not seem to be collecting any water in the reservoir despite the motor and the fan going continually. There is a lot of humidity in the room.
Many thanks Jan
Hi, Just came across this post and although it is an old one, someone else may have the same problem. We too have a Challenge 4151319 which seemed to be running fine but did not collect water. We found out (by accident) that by raising the back edge by 1" the dehumidifier works fine. We initially placed a book under back edge to tip it forward slightly but eventually replaced this with a piece of wood. Hi Tech! In this position it collects water as it should - just looks a little odd!
If the room tempature is close to 60, the coils may be frozen (completely encased in ice). If this is the case, move it where the water can drain off - about 1 gallon which may NOT run into the drain bucket.
I out mine over the floor drain.
Turn off and it will defost over night.
Only specially made dehumidifers work below a room temo of 60 degrees (the temp of a basement in winter).
Does it need to be running? A digital humidity sensot from Radio Shack is cheap and may tell you the humidity is OK - only 50% or less.

I if the room is not cold, and the unit is running:
1) check to make sure the fafan is is operating. Anytime the compressor is running, the fan should also be blowing out air
2) if the fan is operating, again, is the humidity already low? If it is below freezing outside, the air inside may be dry (but then your unit should automatically shut off).
3) If you take the cabinet off, check to make sure the coils/filter are clean. Look for oil leaking - this is lubicant for the coolant - but if you have a coolant leak the newer models control panels flash an error code - if it is a coolant leak, most coolant warranties are 5 years.

Thanks so much for the reply, but the room is not cold so I don't think this is hte problem. I suspect there is a fault with the dehumidifer.
