One thing you can do is to disconnect the CMOS battery for about a minute or so to let the charge drain away, then re-connect it ( you could always renew it at the same time as they don't last forever ) This will reset the BIOS to default settings and a password will no longer be required. The whole laptop must be disassembled to do this, and there is no guarranty that this will remove the password. Some Dells have it stored in flash ram, so CMOS battery has no effect
