BIOS password I have acquired a used HP Pavilion ze2000 PC Notebook that unfortunately has a BIOS password on it. I'm noticing that HPs don't seem to have default BIOS passwords. Any way that I can reset it, or are there default passwords that anyone knows of?

One thing you can do is to disconnect the CMOS battery for about a minute or so to let the charge drain away, then re-connect it ( you could always renew it at the same time as they don't last forever ) This will reset the BIOS to default settings and a password will no longer be required. Good luck !

The whole laptop must be disassembled to do this, and there is no guarranty that this will remove the password. Some Dells have it stored in flash ram, so CMOS battery has no effect

Hi,

Try loading to safe mode by pressing F8 right after you press the power button to turn on the machine and see if the admin account is available, if not most likely you have to reinstall the Operating System.

Audio driver for hp pavilion ze2000

This Link
seems to provide the best thorough approach to getting those drivers installed & working.

However, someone claims, on this forum page(last post on the page) that all you need to do is use the "windows online driver search" function, and it will handle all of the messy work of locating, downloading & installing.

I hope that helps.

Forgot password

Ok ive found out, there are two ways 2 do it 1u just need to take out the battery, and Press the on/off button for 5seconds, the 2nd is more drastic u need to dissasemble all parts and take off the small battery(its even in PCs) and hold iit for ten minutes, then its going to be ok (ive did the second way, because the first way works only on some notebooks)

BIOS passwords can be reset in two ways,
1. using software 2. using hardware.

I would first try resetting using software, here are two software's to reset or retieive BIOS passwords.

!BIOS - is a PC BIOS toolkit offering password removal/decrypt and BIOS settings modification/backup/restore.

CmosPwd - Cmos password recovery tools 4.8

Please let us know if it works.

Recovery required but no CD available

Boot into bios, setup to start on a cd.
Burn from another machine first:
a WinPe, BartPe, Ubuntu, Knoppix, etc. Bootable CD.
Boot with any of these and see what happened to your files.

You never even stated what OS you had.

Sounds 2 hot.
