How to fix Hotpoint CTD00 Tumble Dryer?

About 12 months ago my tumble dryer started to blow the power after a few seconds of turning it on. After vacuming it all out, including heating elements it has been fine. However it has started to blow the power again, but now does this the instant I press the on button. I have cleaned it all out again and it did work for a while, but the problem has re-occured and I have had no luck with the previous methods. I have searched this problem and found one answer to say it is the heating element that needs to be replaced. Could someone please tell me me if this is the case, and how easy this is to replace.

I've had exactly the same problem with my tumble dryer, same make and model. I have followed the advice given by Picton and so far everything is ok again. We found that the little inlet was blocked inside the water reservoir, as he described. We used to clean the bottom filter about once a month (which is what Hotpoint recommended in instructions), and empty the water unit after every use, but now we will clean the bottom filter weekly. It's not easy to clean properly, I've found, as it doesn't come apart.

Anyway, many thanks for the advice. I have been pleased with the dryer otherwise.

The link above should solve your problem. I have the same problem and my parents who bought the same tumble dryer also had the same problem. Its water backing up to the fan then its hitting the heating element which is tripping the electric off.

At the back of the Tumble dryer near the bottom you'll see a panel that has about 8 screws that you can taqke off as well as a small panel that cover the pivet for the drum. If you unscrew this you will see the fan and heating element and no doubt a small puddle of water and damp dust that has clung onto the panel. You should dry this with kitchen roll and clean the old dust off then carefully turn the tumble dryer on (at your own risk lol) or you can take the advice of the person who posted the link above and use a hair dryer. This will stop the element getting wet and tripping off.

Also there is a water reservoir to the right of the panel i mentioned. If you prise the clips open and remove the top section you will see the water in the reservoir. If you look inside it on the bottom left hand side there is a little **** that the water drains in from. If you use something like pipe cleaners or a knife and wiggle it about you may have some fluff or hair trapped there that is making the water back up to the fan and causing the tumble dryer to trip off.

Hopefully this willsolve your problem for the time being but the filter in the bottom of the dryer needs to be cleaned thoroughly every week or so to stop this happening again.

Personally i think this is a major design flaw and the tumble dryer should be recalled but Hotpoints aftercare service is awful to say the least so lesson learnt, don't buy a hotpoint tumble dryer!

Hotpoint tumble dryer CDT00

found the water pump impeller is broken - can I get a spare one or do I have to replace all pump / housing - seems a shame having gone to the trouble to strip it all down - tiny piece of rubber is all I need!!!

SOURCE: hello I have a hotpoint tcp 1p tumble dryer

this sounds like the thermostats

You-Tube video "sfGInKA3yp8" placeholder (do not delete)

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail (meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) that might need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can trip out or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehave programs that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcode showing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also be the fault.

Testimonial: "yes this problem was the thermostats now fixed thank you"

SOURCE: hotpoint tumble dryer CTD00 timer

It is not a difficult job...the thing to keep you out of trouble is to make sure you get the right timer switch, then remove one wire at a time.
Remove one wire from the old timer and put it on the new timer, there is not that many wires for your timer.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:

My hotpoint aquarouis ctd00 tumble dryer is heating but no air is blowing through. also there is no water collecting in the water tray

Check all filters and air vents at front and rear of m/c, to make sure they are all clear., do not overload, make sure you have selected right heat setting, and the correct drying time.
It is not usual to feel air blowing out of dryer, because it is a condenser dryer.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
