AutoCAD 2004 and Windows 7 are NOT compatible. You will need to upgrade to AutoCAD 2010 either 32-bit or 64-bit. Even with the upgrade, there are known limitation issues.

Windows 7 is a 64 bit operating system, and autoCAD is only 32 bit software, which is not compatible with this operating system.

I've been searching around for a solution for my AutoCAD 2004, and have now found one - so I thought I'd update everyone on Fixya since I've always used the solutions and never posted! I used a tool called the Longbow Converter, it installed my AutoCAD 2004 on 64bit Windows 7 perfectly - hope it helps. Nex

Install the widows 7 32 bit version, and it will run great.

I had a similar problem... vista 64 bit... autocad wouldn't run... when w7 came out, bought the upgrade for $200 and installed the 32 bit verision... $200 vs $1100

When I install autocad2004 in windows 7 ,autocad can't run. untill now AutoCAD 2004 can't be compatible with a Windows 7 ?

yes can be, just follow these steps:

Not compatible or not working well with windows 7?

Maybe, It doesn't work because the driver/application you installed is for other versions of operating system. I am also using windows 7 like you so don't you worry, You can still use your old installer/driver from other versions of operating systems. Just remember that before installing any program in a windows 7 Operating System Computer, Use "troubleshoot compatibility". Right Click the Icon of your program installer/application first, then choose "troubleshoot compatibility". This will allow you to choose on what type operating system your program will run. Just reply back if it still doesn't work.:D rate and vote for me:))

Is there any chance to install autocad 32 bit 2004 with 64 bit windows 7 home basic please advice

Maybe. Typically 32 bit programs will not run under 64 bit processors, but some will run under compatability mode. Navigate to the program and right click on it and specify run in compatability mode. Some older programs will not run under 64 bit, period.
