Two models of the 46 inch Sony Bravia have a screen flicker problem. On my 2008 model, starting from cold, it lasts for 5-10 min, on LHS of screen. The Telefix tech who visited said this is common with these models (46in only), a new panel is needed. Sony provides warranty on this fault for 3 yrs, so you do not need extended warranty to claim. Discuss your case with Sony or Telefix.

i am having the same isssue with my kdl-46v100. the LHS of screen has horizontal lines and image duplication/flickering for a 5 minutes or so before correcting itself. i called sony and they said its only a 1yr warranty on this model. how does one inquire about this 3yr warrante dj4116 has mentioned?

My model is KDL-46X3100. I do not know what the other affected 46 in model is. The Telefix tech tested the problem this way: Hold the plastic border around the screen with your hands along the top. Press in at the front with your thumbs while the problem is displaying. The problem goes away while you are pressing in.
I'd contact Sony service and say you know they are giving 3 yr warranty on the KDL-46X3100 for this problem. Get them to admit that, and then ask whether the same applies to your model. Otherwise I'd talk to your local Telefix or other TV repairer and see if they know about the problem and Sony 3yr warranty. Good luck.

Thanks for the tip!!! I have a 46" Sony Bravia, KDL-46WL135 purchased from Costco that was experiencing the same flickering, fluttering and sometimes ghosting of images randomly. At times it would or wouldn't appear but over time seems to be getting worse. I called Sony this afternoon and they confirmed there is warranty service repair for this problem at no charge until October 2012. My appointment has been set for the new panel fix. Hat's off to Sony for doing the right thing........

My 85 year-old mother is having the same problem with her KDL46V4100. Is Sony also providing the warranty on this model?

  • dj4116 Apr 10, 2016

Update: My Bravia had the ghost problem again - well out of warranty. I sold it on ebay as faulty and bought a Panasonic. There is a sort of fix for the Bravia using bezel packing to push the LCD tabs into better contact with the LCD panel. Google "Bravia ghost screen fix" or similar. There are also utubes for this well known problem.

Why does TV have a flickering image?

A flickering TV screen that will blink can sometimes be fixed by simply turning off the TV and turning the TV back on. A component attached to the TV could be at fault. Cables might not be secure properly or be connect properly or a cable could be faulty. Check to see if your TV has an energy efficiency feature that can be causing the issue.Or the Screen is starting to go bad and needs to be replaced.Or your TV is starting to not work anymore.

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
Take it to a repair shop.

Flickering screen on lg m2362d

If you can hear sound, then screen is gone.

I'll bet you don't.

If you see an image, hear sound, just won't hold.
I'd bet on the T-Con board.

Not knowing what is really happening here..

If willing to dive into electronic's.
Open her up and start testing power side, starting with capacitors.

When the projector is switched on with the visualiser the light on the wall screen from the projector is yellowy/green instead of the usual white light on the screen, this can alternate several times...

Generally speaking, if you have discoloration that changes during use, you will find that it's due to one or more of your cables either not being connected properly or being damaged.

The first thing I need to ask is whether or not you have this same discoloration when the projector is not connected to anything. If so, the problem is internal and I can't really help there except to tell you to contact a technician.

However, if the image color is fine when the projector is not connected to anything, the problem is definitely a cable or connection issue. That being said, try the following steps:

1) Check all your connections and make sure everything is firmly connected. Discoloration can occur from your cables only making partial contact. Also, while you do this, observe the ends of the cables themselves to make sure they are undamaged.

2) Flex your cables, starting at one end and moving slowly to the other. If you have a damaged wire, the image should change color/flicker/or even disappear entirely when you reach the damaged portion.

3) If that did not work, replace your cabling with a spare. If that solves your problem, then the old cable is damaged/defective and should be disposed of.

4) Normally, I would tell you to also check the settings in the menu as well, but if the image changes color during use, it's not a settings issue.

I hope that helps.

There are flickering, rainbow-like color bands running across the screen, especially in the component inputs, not so much using the HDMI input, but still there.

Hi,if your tv is and Lcd rear projection it will be the light engine that needs replacement.Because lcd technology uses 3 chips green, red and blue that create the image and colors. When they start to fail you will get what you are getting color discoloration and rainbows. If your tv is DLp it will be the dmd chips which basically its like the lcd chips but instead of 3 chips its only one that creates the image.Hope this works God bless you!

42HP95 TV screen flickers off/on

Can be either one of three things 1) logic board, power supply, or unfortunately most likely is your panel. But if I were you I'd get a hold of Toshiba warranty center to diagnose because then they could check voltages with toshiba tech support.
