We have an NEC Electra Elite phone system in our office. We need to block outgoing long distance calls from being made at certain phones in the building. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Thank you!

Do you have actual appearance of each line, or just a placement button for calls received, a Call Arrival key, or car key. You can't grab a car key to make a call, the outgoing calls just land on them after you dial 9 or whatever the code is. Anyway, that would have to be changed in system programming, an actual tech would have to look at that. Or the phones are restricted and need a code entered to bypass the restriction. I have no idea how those codes might be set up.
If you are using an Active Voice product (typical w/ NEC) you need to change the hours of operation on the voice mail system. "Night Mode" only changes the ringing characteristics of the phone system and where calls ring, not the greetings that play on the voice mail. The voice mail plays a particular greeting (Day/Night/Holiday) based on the time of day specified in the schedule. The system administrator for the voice mail would have to make this change.
You must access system manager in the system. Call your office and get the main greeting than dial 632 for system manager. You must know the password to get in. than listen for mgr options. than listen for opening greetings. Remember 1=yes 2=no. LDTSNJ.com
How was the T1 tested? If they did it remotely and ran a typical 5-15 minute test, it may have been while the circuit was clean. Today's circuit equipment can mask errors on the user end that their SwitchRoom monitoring cannot see. Many things can cause this problem. They should have a tech on-site to pull the records from the SmartJack and do a head-to-head test. There can be errors coming in that only an on-site tech with the proper test equipment can see.
On an NEC Elite you must enter system programming to change the name of the extensions. Unless you have a PC connection to the system this is somewhat complicated. If you would like me to step you through the system programming, please contact me @ 850-326-0394.
