Red screen Screen seems to be brightening and then dimming. It has a very red cast to it.

go into settings and device

screen and wallpaper setting turn of auto light and screen will be bright again and not dim.

this prob is may be with your screen wire it may be short

1) The power supply for screen starting to fail 2) You must go to the repair shop

have you tried holding Fn and pressing the button with thr brightening symbol. on mine its Fn and F5 for brighten and Fn and F4 for dim.. buttons may vary but this should work if not you may have a fault with the sreen sensor that shuts the screen down when you close the notebook

The screen will automatically dim slightly when it is on battery power, this is to conserve battery power. For maximum brightness connect the power adapter into the laptop.
On the Thinkpad laptops you can adjust the brightness by pressing and holding down the blue Fn key plus the Home key to brighten or the End key to dim the screen.

To dim :Press Fn + Left arrow
To Brighten : Press Fn + Right ARROW

You can brighten or dim the LCD screen by pressing the Fn key plus another key with the a sun symbol eg the UP & DOWN arrow keys or one of the F3 to F12 keys - it varies depends upon the model of the laptop.
If you cannot vary the brightness of the LCD screen the you have a faulty backlight.

Connect an external monitor to the laptop and power it up, if you see a clear image on an external monitor, this means your video card is OK.

If you see a dim image or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.
