You are having an overheat issue when booting up normally. In safe mode, not all processes are running. Therefore, I would suspect a premature thermal failure with either processor or memory/ram.

Get a hold of a handheld meter that has thermocouple function. clip a lead on one memory card at a time observing the temp when system shuts down. Also observe temp of processor. if you have two memory cards, try removing one at a time until the system does not power down within the noted timeframe. Then toss that one you pulled out.

Press "F8" repeatedly before the Windows icon shows up on your screen.

Scroll down and select the boot option you want.
Press "Enter."You can select from "Safe Mode" "Safe Mode with Networking" or your regular booting option.

How do i turn off safe mode

Most computers when you boot it up give the option of "Boot Menu" upon the first few seconds of powering the machine on. Look at the screen and see if it reads Press F1 or F2 for Boot Menu. From there you can toggle off the safe mode option. Sometimes it's the delete key or alt key for some other computer providers as well.

Hope this helps,

How do you put windows into safe mode?

Power on or Restart your computer, keep tapping F8 on the keyboard while it boots up. After few seconds, you'll be taken to the "Advanced Boot Options" with "Safe Mode" in the lists. Use the Up-Down arrow keys to highlight the "Safe Mode" and press enter on the keyboard to confirm the selected boot options. Black Screen with white texts will be displayed on the display, wait for few seconds until you see the windows logon Screen. You'll also see a confirmation message box asking you to confirm to boot into Safe Mode, click "yes" or "Ok" and proceed forward. There now you are in the Safe Mode.

If you need further help, let me know.

Good luck.

Same problem!

I would boot the computer in safe mode and here is the instructions.
Learn how to start up in Safe Mode.
Products Affected Mac OS X 10.4, Mac OS X 10.3, Mac OS X 10.2, Mac OS X 10.5
To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), do this:
  1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
  2. Press the power button.
  3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
  4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
During startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.

while your in safe mode see if you can uninstall the drive software and reinstall it

How to start in safe mode

Windows XP and Vista

Using the F8 Method:
  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Advanced Options menu.
  3. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode.
  5. Do whatever tasks you require and when you are done reboot to boot back into normal mode.

Hp pavilion sleep mode

OK this is my solution we have discussed this a bit so I have come up with this -

1. Boot in safe mode if unable go into BIOS and restore factory defaults

2. Boot in safe mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key (once every second or so)

Remember: Keep tapping it all the way up to the windows load screen

3. Once the prompt comes up hit Safe Mode

4. Once loaded in safe mode Go to Control Panel > Power Options

5. Switch everything to never - I always do this as it annoys me anyway

6. Reboot normally

If this doesnt work give me another messege I will be happy to work on this with you until we solve it

HP Pavillion ze5600 notebook won't boot up

Try booting, hit F8 for the list, go to safe mode but right after you hit enter to go into safe mode hold the left and right <ctrl> keys. That loads minimal amount of drivers as possible. Do you have you Win XP disk in case a repair is needed? Let me know what happens.
