I have a Kenmore dishwasher, model 665.16039. Over the past month (we were on vacation 8 days over Xmas, but I assume it would have happened then, too) it has required rebooting using the Normal Wash - Heated Dry reset about 4-6 times. It would then do a couple loads okay, then need resetting. Now, however, it's refusing to reset to a point at which the Start buton will work. When I reset it, it flashes all the lights (incl. Start), and it fills, sprays, empties, etc. just as though it works fine. Then, at the end of the reset cycles when the lights are all blank, pressing Smart Wash or Normal Wash will only cause that button and Heated Dry to light up. If I then press Start, I get no results at all. I've reset it several times like this, just this morning. What can I do to get it to actually run a wash program?
I'm not sure what damage Samantha was referring to. I have only manipulated the controls, assuring that the filling, pumping, and draining functions work, and all the LEDs light. I have not unscrewed the door to inspect and clean the control panel, nor have I otherwise removed the appliance from the cabinet (I had hoped neither would be necessary). Are those the next steps, now that the reset code doesn't seem to be enough to restore the dishwasher?I'm not sure what damage Samantha was referring to. Thanks, eyecue, but I reckon I already answered both your questions in my lengthy original post-- NO lights are left flashing, and the unit tests okay as far as water.
The unit now works fine. Here's the update: I reckoned the Start button had failed, and the LED was still okay. So I disassembled the control panel and found that about 10 cockroaches were using it as a nest-- there was cockroach filth EVERYWHERE. I completely disassembled the panel and cleaned everything, then tested the Start button (and the others) against the diode-test instructions on the vendor instructions hidden behind the front kickpanel. The Start button showed okay, so I reassembled and retested-- and the machine works like it's supposed to. (Oh yeah-- I wiped the plastic surfaces down with Raid Ant & Roach spray on a cloth.)Thanks, eyecue, but I reckon I already answered both your questions in my lengthy original post-- NO lights are left flashing, and the unit tests okay as far as water.

I have a Kenmore model # 665.13793K600 and it has been having a small puddle of water remaining in the bottom at the end of each cycle. I've taken it apart and cleaned it. I'm thinking I may have the drain hose incorrectly positioned or it could even be something unrelated. I can only think of the drain because I replaced the kitchen faucets a coupe of months ago and it could be since then that this has been happening.
Kenmore dishwashers should be recalled!! Their poorly designed computer circuit boards are all malfunctioning around 15 months. Look on the inside top of your door. Do you see a instructions? There should be some about your Heat Dry button and holding it down for 4 seconds to reset your computer board. Read and try it first. It's like rebooting a computer.
First, have you run it long enough to purge the air from the dishwasher line?
Secondly, the solenoid valve for the water inlet may be stuck due to no pressure on it while you were gone. Tapping it with something light like a wrench may jump-start it.
I had a simular problem with my Kenmore. I unplugged it for an hour or so and it worked for a while. (Disconnect dishwasher from power befer attempting this procedure!) I ended up removing the inner door panel and removing the circuit board. I used a clean damp (distilled water preferred) paper towel and wiped down the entire circuit board surface. I paid special attention to the areas between the closely spaced component leads. I dried the board with a dry paper towel and re-installed the board. The dishwasher has preformed flawlessly for the past 4 months.
I believe that the mist and steam deposites a thin film of very conductive detergent and minerals on the board surfaces over time. The resulting electrical leakage paths "scrambles" the control's "brains".
I also noted that prior to my repair, most of the led cycle indicating lights were very dimly glowing with the room lights out. Also, the wash cycle ran for a much longer time.
www.Repairclinic.com is a great place to look. But from past experienc, dishwasher racks are very expensive and almost 1/2 the cost of a new one. Good luck.
Here is one way to do it: 1. In column A enter the name 2. In column B enter their start date in the format day-month-2008 (31-12-2008 for Dec. 31, 2008); if a day is less than 10, put zero in front (03, 04, etc.) 3. In column C put 31-12-2008 (December 31, 2008, the last day of the year) 4. In column D, put C1-B1 and format as a number with 2 places after the period (10.25 for example) if you want to track partial days, other format for no zeroes after the period (13) 5. In column E, put this formula: (D2/30)*1.25 (assuming this is line 2) You can then copy these lines as many times as you need to, total them, etc.
I have had this problem in the past as well. They state that you have all the parts you need to install the dishwasher, however that is assuming that it is under ideal conditions. You will need an adapter to attach to the fill line to make it match the size on the diswasher. They usually only cost about $3.00.
