Hi,

This issue could be due to two reasons 1). The power adapter of the scanner could go bad and needs to be changed, and the other the Scanner it self is gone bad, however you can try few steps given below.

1. Remove the scanner power adapter and clean the metal contacts on both the ends also clean the metal contacts on the scanner as well if possible.
2. Reseat the power adapter on both the ends.
3. Plug the scanner to a different or known good power source
4. Disconnect and bypass the power extensions if used and connect the scanner directly to the wall jack.
5. Try a similar know good power adapter.

When one of the solutions resolves the issue, there is no need to continue troubleshooting.Solution one: Check the scanner lightFollow these steps to check the scanner light by making a color copy of any document.
  1. Load plain white, unused, letter size paper in the paper tray.
  2. Lift the scanner lid, place the original face down on the scanner glass, and then lower the scanner lid.
  3. Make a color copy.
  4. When the product starts to scan the document to copy, slightly lift the scanner lid to see if the scanner light turns on. I have 2 Epson V500 Scanners, 1 of them I just have on standby. The one I use daily does not turn on. I tried using the cables of the standby unit already. I checked the fuses on the plugs of both...

  1. Check that the power socket switch is on Make sure your scanner's power cord is securely connected to the scanner and a working electrical outlet.
  2. If your scanner is supplied with a power adapter, make sure your scanner's AC adapter is securely connected to the scanner and a working electrical outlet.
  3. Make sure that the power outlet works. (If necessary, test it by plugging in another electrical device and turning it on.)
  4. Check that the power switch is on at the mains socket. If this is on, carefully check the power cable to ensure it is not damaged and remove then reseat it before attempting to turn the scanner on again. If your scanner has a power button, make sure that the button is depressed so it is turned on. Also, make sure that your outlet works and is not controlled by a wall switch or timer.
  5. Power off the scanner at the mains socket. Unplug the power cable from the socket, then remove and reseat the power cable from the scanner's power cable port. Plug the scanner back in at the mains and ensure the socket is switched on.
  6. If your scanner has a power button, does the power button depress when pressed? Press down firmly on the power button, if it is stiff and does not depress then there may be a problem with the button.

  7. Connect the scanner directly to the mains - not via a surge protector or extension lead. If your unit is connected via a surge protector or a power strip/extension lead, connect the unit directly to the mains socket.
  8. Try another suitable power cable. Check that other electronic devices connected to same power socket have power and try another mains socket and another power cable if necessary. Failing this try another suitable and known-working power cable. Depending on your scanner, a standard "kettle lead" or "figure of eight" power cable is used. If there is power to the scanner (indicated by an illuminated Start light), when a different power cable is used, then the fault is with the original power cable.

If the unit does not power on after following the checks above, contact Epson for support. If your scanner uses an AC adapter, then this may need to be replaced. If your scanner is over 12 months old, you can purchase a replacement AC adapter directly from Epson.

I have pro 135 from radio shack. How do I reset it and keep the channels that are programed in it?

The RESET function will clear everything that you have programmed into the scanner and restore original factory settings. You can, however, restore the 150 pre-programmed frequencies after a RESET.

To RESET:
- Power the scanner OFF.
- Hold down the 2, 9, and PSE keys and power the scanner ON.
- CLEAr appears on the display as the scanner resets.
- Do not power the scanner OFF until CLEAr disappears from the display.

To restore the original 150 pre-programmed frequencies:
- Turn the scanner power OFF.
- Hold down the 3 and ENT/PGM keys and power the scanner ON.

MY 2096 BASE SCANNER READS ALL CHANNELS LOCKED AND I CAN'T UN DO IT AND OPERATE NORMAL. HOW DO I CORRECT THIS PROBLEM?

If all else fails, and it sounds like it has, you can RESET or INITIALIZE the scanner to bring it back to normal operation.

To RESET:
- Power the scanner OFF
- Power the scanner back ON
- Insert a pointed object (paper clip, penpoint, etc.) into the RESET hole on the back of the scanner
- Gently press and then release the RESET button inside the hole.

NOTE: RESET will NOT erase the data that you've programmed into the scanner.

If RESET doesn't clear the problem, you can carry out the more drastic INITIALIZE process.

- Power the scanner OFF
- Power the scanner back ON
- Press 0 after the scanner completes its boot routine
- Press 1 after the menu appears
- Press ENT

DO NOT power the scanner OFF until the INITIALIZE process is complete (M000 and Bank 0 Ch 00 appear on the display). The INITIALIZE procedure will reset the scanner to original factory settings and erase all data that you have programmed.

Error 201

Which scanner is this? Error (201) usually indicates some sort of power issue...such as the scanner is not getting enough power. If this is a USB powered scanner you may try connecting to different USB ports on the computer.
