Step 1 would be to remove the battery and the power cord for a few minutes.
Then plug in just the power cord and see if it boots. Please let me know.
Last thing to try before calling Sony would be to hold down your FN key (down by spacebar) then press your monitor switching key on your top keyboard row. It will show a picture of a monitor. Could be you switched your monitor off somehow. So, hold down function key and keep pressing the monitor key to see if monitor switches on (on my laptop it is the F4 key but might be different on yours)
Another thought is, if you look really close to your screen can you just barely make anything out? Could be that your backlite in you monitor went out. If thats the case you could try hooking it up to an external monitor by plugging it in in the back.
Please let me know how that goes.
Sorry, seems that it's a hardware problem and cannot be easily fixed.
Here is a link to all the support that Sony provides for you laptop. Good Luck.

Remove the memory bay access door (on the bottom of the laptop). Then remove one stick of RAM (If two are installed) and leave only one stick of RAM installed. Now, apply gentle pressure to each end of the populated RAM slot (the beige wide body portion of the slot and NOT THE RAM CHIP or retention clip) with your thumb and index finger. With the pressure still applied, hit the power button to power on the system. Do you get a Sony logo on the screen? If not, Hold the power button in for 5 seconds. After the system powers off, remove the RAM from the slot and re-insert it into the other slot and do the same thing.
If this does not correct the problem then replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system
Surya,
Not booting means what? Does it not go into Windows or does it not finish loading Windows? Please clarify. In the mean time study the following link and tell me what is the problem in details.
Sorry,
The link is
Crashed Windows : No Problem
Surya,
1. At boot up press F2 and enter BIOS.
2. See if the HDD is being recognized.
3. If it is reading the HDD then the Windows has crashed. Reinstall it as per Crashed Windows : No Problem.
4. If HDD not being read do the Auto Detect.
5. If yes then then go to 3 above.
6. If no, then the HDD has crashed. Change it and install Windows again from the recovery disks.
It means that the BIOS has gone. It is a small chip that needs change. It is the one that keeps track of your hardware before booting commences. And also of what to do if minor errors occur. It is Basic Input Output System. If this goes then the machine will not move anywhere. Like your's. So a trip to the Service Center is called for. It may not be the HDD.
Before you take the trip, confirm once again by pressing F2 just after you press the power on button. Do it five six times. And come back to me.
Surya,
It is now confirmed that the BIOS has gone and needs a replacement for which a trip to the service center is called for. All the best.
Surya,
No idea as I never had to get it done myself. You should go to Sony Service Center as they are the authorized to carryout repairs in the best way. Although a little more expensive but more dependable.
Also may I request you to change my rating if you are satisfied, as that counts. You had given me just two stars after the first session.
