My initial reply was...On the function button you may need to depress it for 3 seconds to activate base, treble, balance etc But
then I found this, "Rotary Volume Control: The CD receiver uses a 7-way rotary volume control that increases and decreases the volume of the stereo from 0 to 35. The rotary knob also controls other audio settings such as Balance, Fader, Bass, Mid, Treble and preset EQ settings. In addition, the rotary knob allows you to scroll through and select your music tracks when the Music Search function is activated.
Cheers, this should help ya.

Find a wiring schematic for a hofner bass knock off?

It should still be close to a real Hofner bass
a common wiring configuration is
two pickups volume for each pickup, pickup selector switch,
bass on/off switch, and treb on/off switch
there are quite a few schematics available online...

How do you adjust balance and adjust the tone, like bass and treb.

there should be an audio button. press it for a few seconds, then use the am/fm buttons to scroll through the menu and the seek up and down buttons to adjust.

My speakers make almost no sound at max volume. However if you listen closely, the music still plays, its just not amplified. How can i check the amplifier?

if you are wanting bass adjust your amp settings to low pass. if you are wanting a lil bass- a lil treb- adjust your amp to full. and make sure your rca cables are hooked up in the proper spots.

How to get the best sound

punk and metal tones (late 80s): treb-7 mid-6-7 bass 6-8, presence 6-10, gain/distortion all the way up. classic rock just turn down the gain/distortion to 6-7. bridge pickup

metal mid 90s & up: treb 6-7, mids 3-5, bass 7-9, gain all the way up, presence (which is a mid and treble boost) 4-6. bridge pickup

blues SRV: treb 6, mid 6, bass 7.5, presence 8, gain 5, reverb (if you got it). use your neck pick up

of course this is subjective and depends on the guitar, cable quality, etc. it looks like a small speaker with a low watt output. that little speaker in there is going to be hard to articulate any tones. more than likely it will have a harsh bit to it cause the value of the pots and the logarythm you hear. reduce treble as needed to smooth out the harsh, keep the mids up.
