QOS on D-link dir-625

I have a d-link dir 625 router. I have voip (lingo is the provider) and I have the voip device connected to one of the LAN ports on the router. I would like to use the QOS such that everytime I am on a call, the call gets the highest priority. I have tried amny different settings on the QOS page of the router but could not get it to work. Can you please describe how I get QOS to work. I tested the QOS by talking on the phone while doing ssome heavy downloading. Using the phone while downloading still caused breakups in the call and the download speed did not fall. So what could be wrong?

i gots a d-link dir-655 - i blew the extra money in hopes of a better qos service. no luck so far, tried many different settings. i had the same problem with my linksys wrt54gs v7 (up until my mom watered the plants... and well... that's why i'm trying out a new router). i've played around with QOS, WISH, and random port prioritization here and there, yet still no luck so far. also, anyone know how to limit bandwidth to certain users?

    thanks,
    d-link newbie

Buy a linksys wrg series router and smash that dlink peice of junk into tiny little pieces, put them into a bag and mail to dlink, with a letter describing your opinion of their products.

How do you hook up a dlink router to a telus modem, the WLAN connection won't work.

Hello,

Newer telus modems tend to be wireless.
If your telus modem is wireless, then you want to forget the DIR-625 all together and simply connect your computers to the telus modem.

If you have a standard telus modem, you will want to connect a LAN cable from the modem to the WAN port on the router and then connect your devices to the router.

Please come back and vote or leave some feedback, it will let me know whether it helped so I can improve and it will encourage me to keep on helping.

Thanks,

Driver

not sure why you will need USB drivers for your adsl2+ modem/ wireless router and 4 port LAN switch. It would help you had provided the model number.

The device uses a LAN ethernet port to connect to the computer. You will need atleast one computer to be on the LAN port for setting it up. Once setup is complete you can use wireless connection for every computer.

The user manual & drivers or the DSL-2740B which appears similar to your product description
http://www.dlink.com.au/tech/Download/download.aspx?product=DSL-2740B

Not sure if you need these. Your computers will need LAN or wireless drivers to connect to this DLINK modem/ router.

Good luck

Port forwarding with DIR-625 (wireless environment)

Does your modem has a NAT too? if not then upgrade the firmware of the router that usually fix the problem, if not then ask your ISP and see if they are blocking the ports. have you tried connection without the router to see if that will work?

I have installed 2 delink routers for my Mac, I still cannot get on line. the mac is new, what is the problem?

Try to configure the DIR-625 wireless router. Connect your computer to one of the LAN port to one of the router. Then access the IP address of the router (192.168.0.1) configure as dynamic IP then clone the MAC address. Make sure that you modem is connected to Internet port section of the router. Check the Internet connection after the configuration leave the other behind check the connection of the main router before installing the other one.

D-Link DIR-625

What you need to do is long into your router's configuration. For the D-links, all you have to do is open internet explorer. Type in 192.168.0.1 on the address bar and press enter. Once you get into the log in page, type in your username and password (not the same one as your wireless password). If you don't know. Try admin for username and leave password blank. It should work if you have not change the default password. Once inside the configuration page. Go to Advance, click on QoS engine on the left. Input the IP address of the VoIP box in the "source ip" , type in a name for your rule and select 1 for priority and input your ports for your VoIP box. The best thing you want to do is put your VoIP box before your router. That way you get better quality.
