No because it is too dangerous. When you go into Airplane Mode, you literally turn everything off! Airplane Mode is only for being on an airplane. If you are using it a lot whilst not flying, you are not using it correctly.

Go into your settings and put your phone into airplane mode for ten seconds, then turn airplane mode back off.
If this does not work do a hard reset on your device by pressing and holding the lock screen/power button.

Perform a hard reset on your device by pressing and holding your lock screen/power button until your device powers off. If this doesn't solve your problem please set your phone to airplane mode for ten seconds, and then turn it he airplane mode back off. Airplane mode can be accessed through your cell phones settings.

1. Press and Hold the Power button for 2 Seconds. A menu pops up. On that list, you will see "Airplane Mode" (under which should state "Airplane mode is ON").
2. Now tap "Airplane Mode" to switch it Off. If you press the power button again after a few seconds, it should now say "Airplane Mode is OFF". This is how you want to leave it. Done.

it's a workaround, but it works if you're going to leave your phone unattended...
First, go to Settings > General > Passcode Lock Turn the passcode on and create a password to protect your phone--set this to the time you prefer for your phone to go into locked mode.
Next, under the same Passcode Lock screen, set the "Show SMS Preview" to off.
Lastly, when you're going to be away from your phone, set the phone to Airplane Mode under general settings.  By setting to airplane mode, you won't get any new information pushed to you. 
If you're not in airplane mode, it will still show on your home screen that you received a text message from a specific number but it won't preview the message. In order to retrieve the message you will have to go into the sms function, which will require that you enter your passcode.
It's not perfect and it requires you to think about it, but it will work for you.
