I have the same problem. Did you ever solve it? I tried using all the Philips universal remote codes I could find, to no avail.

Open DVD player to all DVD zones

Here's a few things you can try. Please remember to switch your player off and back on again after each thingy you try^^ It saves it on some memory thingy^^

1) Go to Setup page
2) Preference page
3) Press 138931
4) Press up/down key to select region code

or

# Turn On unit
# Press the Setup button on the remote
# Navigate to the Preferences page using the Right arrow key
# Press the Down arrow once to enter the Preference page
# Enter 1, 3, 8, 9, 3 and 1 on the remote
# You will now see the current region code displayed
# Use the Up/Down arrow keys to select the region required or 0 for all regions
# Press the Play or OK button on the remote

if your zone is not saved to your dvd player. then do not switch the unit off and on again. throughout my experiences most require to do so, but since I don't work with a lot of Philips models I can only hope it helps^^

Good luck and let me know^^

Call Philips and request a replacement - generally run in the $35-$45 dollar range. Call cyberchrome to find the correct code.

REMOTE CODE FOR PHILLIPS DVD DVP3140

I don't know if this will work for you since your Philips universal remote is a different model. I tried all the codes listed for a Philips DVD player in my Philips SRU3004/27 universal remote manual. Two of them partially worked (wouldn't let me scan forwards and backwards). The last one they listed did work, code 1214. I suggest trying all the codes in the handout that comes with the remote for Philips DVD players. Make sure each number you press registers (the indicator light on the remote will blink). Philps also lists these codes on their web site. Good luck!
