What type of bar oil do I put into a Remington electric chainsaw? (no manual, model #107624-01 ,16"bar

I have been using regular chainsaw oil and I think it works ok. I inherited one of these and would like to find a spare chain and also a manual. Can you give me any info? Thanks

Amazingly I read the owner's manual online and there is no mention of what type oil to use. However, this is a chain saw, albeit and electric chain saw. Therefore it is reasonable to assume that you would use bar oil which you can purchase anyplace that sells chain saws. Just ask for chainsaw bar oil. If you want to clarify this call 1-800-858-8501.

From page 9 of a M12510US (bar oil is SAE 30 with additives to help it adhere to the bar and chain):
FILLING OIL TANK
1. Remove oil cap.
2. Fill oil tank with SAE #30 motor oil. Note: For temperatures below 30°F, use SAE #10 oil. For temperatures above 75°F, use SAE #40 oil. 3. Replace oil cap at once. Tighten oil cap firmly for good seal. This will avoid oil seepage from tank.
4. Wipe off excess oil.
Note: It is normal for oil to seep when saw is not in use. Empty oil tank after each use to prevent seepage.

The most complete owners manual is "M15012US (and several others)" viewed as explainewd above. Page 9 discusses oil weights. Standard bar oil is 30 weight non detergent with addatives to help it adhere to the bar. That would be my recommendation. HTH

I couldn't find your model number but did find an "Owner's Manual" for a M15014US. The chain installation should be similar.

The chain atop the bar needs to be like page 16, figure 25 or it is installed backward.

Go to home depot or lowes and get "bar chain oil" on the chainsaw isle.

I assume you are asking about bar oil. Most electric chain saws use 30 weight non detergent oil for the bar (the cheap stuff from your local walmart).

Please do not try to use bar oil intended for gasoline powered saws, as it is formulated to be very thick, and will not flow properly, wearing out your bar and chain prematurely.
