Brother se- 2700 sewing/embroidery machine Comment by Loves2sew, posted on Jan 30, 2008 when pushing the thread cartridge in a piece snapped off the inside and I need a diagram to see where is belongs. It is the metal piece that comes down in front of the needle when you push the cartidge down. I have not even had this machine a year yet..only 10 months. I live in small town and no repair shops around.
Brother se-2700 sewing/embroidery machine. My automatic thread cutter is getting very dull and won't cut any more. Can it be replaced? Where do I get a replacement?

make sure the bobbin thread is wound and installed correctly
remove tangled thread and clean lint out from under feed plate
clean and remove shuttle to clean out area with lint brush
inspect bobbin for burs and scratches...make sure when reinstalling shuttle and bobbin that it rotates freely

The thread cassette has no bearing on what needle you use. You need a Schmetz embroidery needle with the red band size 75 for light to medium weight fabrics or a size 90 for heavier fabrics such as denim.
This is an Embroidery machine. Use a thicker thread if only sewing. If doing embroidery, check your hoop for proper size, and make it tight holding the material.
Make sure that your needle is put in the correct way, there is a groove in the front of the needle, check with your finger nail, this is usually to be facing you, and make sure the thread is going through the tension holder correctly do not have the foot down when you are threading the machine,as this stops the thread from going through the needle tension holder.

It's the bobbin thread. Also, it does not have to be Brother brand. Any 60wt thread will work. I get mine at http://www.threadart.com They have it on large cones, and I use a cone holder to fill my bobbins. I have not had a single problem since. I like this thread because it has a sheen to it. I also have a longarm quilting machine & I use this bobbin thread 95% of the time. Also, be sure to check the bobbin area (remove the plastic & the metal plates) for lint buildup... I have a small, soft artists paint brush that I use to remove the lint build up with. I check after every embroidery run. And for the thread not coming through...mine does it when I change thickness of threads. There is an adjustment wheel on the front of the machine, I turn that...seems to make the difference...not even sure that is what it's for...but it works for me.
