RCA Model 25204 2 line speakerphone corded with call waiting caller ID

Brand new phone for us. To get our voice mail we dial our own number and when he get the busy signal we are supposed to press "*" plus the access code plus "#". Trouble is when I press "*", nothing happens. I hear a tone but I am not directed into the telephone company voice mail system. Is there a way to the the "*" to work?

How do I program voice mail. Manual says "the unit auto dials the pre programmed voice mail access number/code". How do I do the pre-programming?

Thank you,
Gladys Pedigo

As bsmither said, how voice mail is accessed is very dependent on your phone company and how they've set things up. They would be the best place to ask about any problems you're having there.

As for programming the voice mail buttons on the 25204, I was confused by that one as well until I finally figured it out. Specializations aside, they're just speed dial buttons, and are programmed in exactly the same way as the ones along the right side of the phone. RCA could have documented that detail better than they did.

In my case, with Vonage, I just programmed the buttons with the numbers for the lines that they're associated with. When they dial and I'm connected to the voice mail system, I'm prompted for my VM password, which I then enter manually.

The way it works for us is that we have THE phone number for the phone company's subscriber's voice mail system. So, we dial THAT number and are greeted with "Welcome to your Voice Mail, please enter your code, followed by the pound sign."

So, maybe the phone number you've been instructed to dial wasn't YOUR OWN number, but THE number that belongs to the phone company. (In my specific case, it's 498-8300.) Call your phone company's business customer support and ask about this.

How do I increase number of rings on CL2909 ATT phone

The CL2909 does not have an answering system. Thus the number of rings will depend on the caller's patience or your voice mail service. You need to check with your telephone provider to find the procedure to change the number of rings before your voice mail system answers the call. You'll have to get into the voice mail system and then access those options.

AT&T has the manual for the CL2909 on the product page: https://telephones.att.com/pd/290/CL2909-Speakerphone-with-caller-ID-call-waiting . The direct link to the manual is currently https://cdn-media-att.vtp-media.com/products/CL/CL2909/CL2909_CIB_i14.0_20170210.pdf .

I hope this helps. If you add a comment with your telephone provider, I may be able to find a guide to their voice mail system settings.

How do I stop the red message light from blinking after I have received my messages

~*~*~ SOLVED SOLVED SOLVED! ~*~*~ After talking to both ATT and RCA with no success...I figured it out. ~*~*~ Plug your phone line into the "DATA PORT" on the back of the unit. Slide the "DATA PORT" switch to whichever line is showing it has a message. Press the corresponding Line# button on the front of the phone. (you should hear the dial tone) Dial your voice mail number. Let it answer, (enter your passcode if needed), then hang up! - That's it! example: MSG Waiting:L2 - I plugged the phone line into the Data Port and moved the data port switch to "2". I pressed LINE 2 on the front of the phone, dialed my voice mail number, it answered, I put in my passcode. (It said that I did not have any new voice mails), then hung up! That's it! Message Indicator light off!!! Repeat for each line that shows a (false) message waiting. ~~~Don't forget to move your phone line back into it's correct port on the back of your phone.~~~

I have a RCA 2-line corded visys speakerphone model 25201 and I need to set up voice message but can not find any instruction.

And you won't. The model you listed is just a phone, it is not an answering machine. You either have voice mail as part of your phone service, or you have another RCA system phone that is acting as the voice mail machine.

Here's the manual http://www.rca4business.com/products/pc/pdf/instruction-book/25201RE1.pdf

Phone Hums

theres a short inside the phone. The best way to troubleshoot this is to take apart and try to feel if an IC or part is getting hot or use a metter to check.
