Toilet nonfunctioning after heavy rain

I live in a community that's sewer system is overwhelmed after a heavy rain. this causes my toilet not to flush; however all the other drains in the house work fine. does anyone know what the problem could be; how to fix. what effect would a pressurized toilet have in these circumstances. (toilet is over 30 years old don't know brand)

SOURCE: toilet wont flush completely. it may take 4 times

there is no air release. the vent must be clogged somewhere. you can take a hose up there and see if it drains all the way or floods over. since the tub drain has a trap and the toilet itself is a trap, there has to bee a good amount of air pressure coming up without a release. i would say an obstruction. possibly at the junction of the main and the vent.

SOURCE: have to flush 2 or 3 times to empty toilet bowl

hello, this is a standard toilet you will need to inspect the flapper that is the rubber flap that holds the water up in the tank it works when you pull the lever it pulls the chain upward and lets the water flow if this flapper is old it may not stay up long enough for the water to flow. open the tank top and flush the toilet see if this flapper is staying up long enough and giving the tank enough time to empty if not change this rubber flapper its inexpensive part.
if this is not the reason then you need to adjust your water filler valve there should be a small screw on top of the pivoting float arm
if you have to adjust it for the water limit line inside the tank this will be the proper amount of water needed to flush once completely

also check that the chain lenth on the pull lever is not pulling the flapper down quicker than its supposed to,

try this let me know your results
hope it helps

SOURCE: I BELIEVE IAM HAVING SOME TYPE OF VACUME ISSUE WITH TOILET

The water in the tank is not filling to the water line, thereby not providing enough water to flush properly. Adjust the float so that the tank fills to the water line

SOURCE: sewer oder from toilet replaced wax ring dident

The wax ring would only help if the toilet wasn't sealed to the drain. Is the odor coming up through the toilet? If so then your water level must be low in the bowl, allowing the trap to be open to air. Make sure the little hose from the fill valve is dumping into the overflow. This helps make sure the toilet stays full, when refilling.

SOURCE: American Standard Toilet does not flush except on

I would suspect some sort of air lock in the pipe, or just a partial blockage which is slowing the water flow.
You may be able to clear it using a rubber plunger. You need a plunger that has a metal or hard plastic disk fitted above the rubber cup (to prevent the cup turning inside out).
If you have an ordinary plunger without the disk you could probably make one to fit it - perhaps the bottom cut out of a plastic drinks bottle and a hose clip to hold it in place.
You will need to work the plunger quite vigorously up and down in the toilet bowl to force a pulse of water through the system.
Pouring a large bucket full of water down the toilet after plunging may have more impact than just normal flushing. It will also refill the trap.

How to empty sewage tank on camper

First, I'm not a camper tech, but I have worked on fixed and portable sewer systems. Get ready as it's a stinker.
* Clogged at toilet means your system is backed up and has dried out at toilet and or sewer system and/or it has not been drained, flushed in a long time. Either way your going to need to find an approved sewage drainage site and drain/flush your system.
with a bit of searching on you tube I found this link that may help you. Though if it does not work then you will probably need proffessional help from a RV sewer repair service.

Smell of sewer in the house

Ensure all your additional rough in plumbing is capped, and toilets or sinks that are not used for long periods of time , sometimes p traps may dry up allowing sewer gasses to enter the home so use them once in a while or fill with water once in a while ,same with floor drains. If that isn't it check that you have them installed.

It could be a venting issue. Check the roof vent for the plumbing system. Perhaps clogged with leaves or other debris causing a blockage in the vent line. You can use a hose up to the roof and flush out the vent line. Another problem may be calcium buildup. CLR , a product available at most hardware and grocery stores will dissolve mineral buildups.

Sewer smell drain

are there any floor drains in the room and an unused bathtub or shower? if so the water may have evaporated from the trap and allow the sewer gas smell. try pouring water into all the drains and see if it is still happening. more elaborate problem may be a broken vent stack in a wall.

If water is backing up into the tub then you have clog downstream from that bathroom group. If water backs up when you ran water in the rest of the house then you have a clogged sewer service. With either case the house drain and / or sewer drain will need to be snaked. Most of the time it will be the sewer drain.

How to Install plumbing in the basement?

A sewer ejector pump is the answer. The waster line is run into the sump basin, pumped through a checkvalve into  the sewer line that grades with gravity.  A vent pipe needs to be run also, (you can't pump out without replacing the air, it's like trying to suck air out of a bottle) If you add a high water alarm, which is a good idea. It is run off of a separate electrical breaker (insurance) to let you know if the pump isn't working before it's flood time.  The check valve makes sure, that what you pump out, stays out. Otherwise the pump will keep cycling.
