Elsombro is right. There is a little whitish plastic square on the right side of the player, part of the DVD assembly (after you take off the cover). It's about 1/4 inch square. With the unit turned on, push that square with a pen about 3/4 of an inch in or as far as it will go. There will be a clunking sound but that is the sound of the DVD being released back onto the tray. Now gently push the back of the tray forward, ejecting the disk manually. Take the disk out and then press the close button. If the door doesn't close, it's out too far so manually push it in about an inch or so and then press the close button again. Should be fine after that. I think my problem was a DVD I recorded on my computer and it has the wrong format or something. After I got it out I put a regular DVD back in and everything was fine.
I removed the cover by unscrewing the eight (8) Phelps, head screws, six (6) in the rear and one (1) on each of the two sides. Facing the front of the unit, I pressed is a small white square on the right side of the DVD Player. The DVD Player door opened immediately. The problem with the DVD being stuck was probably caused by closing the play door manually rather than using the Open/Close button.
Had the same problem the door needs to be readjusted or realigned inside. The little black tab to the left side of the door needed to be in underneath the lip of the door side, mine was outside, probably because I didn't use the open close button to shut it, instead would push the door in with my hand and it went "off track"! Now that I have that done I'm trying to figure out where to put back the small peice of circuit board that was loose and came out with the DVD player when I removed it! There is no indicaction that it was screwed in anywhere and is marked with LPB10228-001A - Front PWB!!
Well, I had the same problem and unscrewed the cover as suggested but did not find the small white square mentioned. Looking underneath the actual disc I noticed white plastic cog wheels that drive the cd tray in and out. I could manually pull the tray out by rotating the cog wheel. It appeared to be stiff, so I applied lubricant oil with a swab around the cog wheel and then after a few slides in and out, the mechanism was working again.
Dvd will not eject from JVC and won't play.
