The latch on the battery door of my Nikon Coolpix

As of Sept 2 2016 there are several for sale on eBay, for about 7 dollars to about 12 dollars.
Search for "battery door", not battery latch.

this part is available with Nikon agency, to replace this you have to open the whole camera, then detach the front portion, it doesn't matter, just a piece of rubber or sponge fix on the battery lid, this will be help full to hold the battery at contact perfectly.

What happened? did you drop the camera? did you let it unused for months and months? Can you open the battery chamber/memory card slot cover?
Can you move up the orange battery latch?
Is there any debris in the battery chamber or memory card slot?
did you push in the memory card, so it can jump out?

they can repair/replace according to the damage and how it broke off. if the door broke into pieces it will be replaced. Replacing is done 99% of the times since it offers the pressure the battery needs to continue to charge well.

unlock the broken cover pull the cover and push a new one.

Have used a 5-cent nylon cable tie for years on our CoolPix 990 and it never has failed, and still allows for battery changes. Looks a little funny to some, but is very functional. Don't know if your camera's design is similar enough for this to work, but it may worth trying.

I just purchased a new battery door for $15 with shipping from nikon. They sent a simple assembly diagram and I was able to replace the door in 30 minutes. I used a dremel to cut the old door off, but you dont have to do that. I got a little impatient.

Just buy the plastic piece and u can reuse the metal parts for your old battery door.
