If your DVD is still struck in the drive. Insert 2 business cards half into the slot and feel for the DVD inside the drive. make sure on card is above the dvd and other other is below the dvd. Now press the eject option and bend the cards away from each other i.e. up and the other one down and pull the cards out of the slot. Your DVD should be out. Else repeat to get the Dvd out and try rebooting.
OK guys, turns out the solution is simple. I came here looking for answers and found none that worked. So I tried everything. Here is what worked... reboot the computer. As it is rebooting, and this is important, before you get back to the windows login screen, hit the eject "button" multiple times until the dvd pops out. It took two or three times for me. Apparently, the controls for the dvd drive are hard wired. I must say this is my third Dell computer and I have some kind of problem with every one of them. It pains me to say this (I am from Texas and so is Dell, you know keep it local and all that) but I will never buy another Dell product again. Unless they start making toilet paper, how can you screw that up?
AS YOU ON THE SYSTEM AND EVEN BEFORE WINDOWS
STARTS KEEP PRESSING THE F8 KEY CONTINUEOUSLY. A MENU WILL APPEAR. SELECT SAFE
MODE AND ENTER. WINDOWS WILL LOAD IN SAFE MODE. THIS WILL SOLVE SOME OF YOUR
PROBLEMS. NOW RESTART THE SYSTEM IN NORMAL
MODE.
IF THIS DOES NOT WORK SELECT "LOAD WINDOWS
WITH LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION " AND THEN RESTART. THIS WILL SURELY
SORT OUT YOUR PROBLEM.
PLS REPLY OR COMMENT. THANKS
