PC videocard-HDMI input not working any more.

It says in the Akai manual that the HDMI input doesnt support PC video cards. Using an older Raedon 9800pro AGP with VGA/HDMI/S-video outputs, the input worked for about 20 minutes till I updated the drivers and rebooted. Ive tryed reloading the origonal drivers and still no video. Is there an adapter made to convert from HDMI to an RGB input ?

There is acompany that makes such a converter BUT it is getting hard to get because HDCP (hd copy protection) can be bypassed with it. I will get the company name for you but search ebay for a hdmi to component converter. It works pretty well. You may need to get the HDMI to DVI converter cable for $8 as well.

Connect pc

To connect your PC or Laptop to your Harman Kardon AVR 2600 you need to connect the HDMI cable output of your graphics card to one of the 4 HDMI inputs on the AVR 2600 receiver. The HDMI connector on the AVR 2600 labeled "HDMI Monitor" is on output and cannot be used as in input.

You need to select the corresponding input from the front of the AVR 2600 or using the remote. Next you need to make sure your have the HDMI output port selected on hour graphics card. This will probably not apply to your PC, but may require some settings from the function keys on your Laptop.

Note that you will probably need to also connect audio from your PC to your receiver as well. I would recommend you use HDMI cable with ver1.4 specification so that you have the best chance of getting audio over the HDMI. If you only get video, then run separate Toslink (optical) or RCA cables to get the audio to the system from the PC.

What is the second hdmi port surrounded in orange on the back of my gateway dx4320-17 do? it doesnt work when connected to my monitor so is it an hdmi input? and would i be able to connect my ps3 to it and...

I presume by second HDMI that you've got an additional Video Card in one of the expension slots (Item 10 at the link below) with another HDMI output

http://support.gateway.com/s/desktop/2010/gateway/dx/dx4840/DX4840rv.shtml

The HDMI surrounded by orange is an ouput but if you've got and additional Video Card then this build in HDMI would normally be deactivated.

Sometimes the problem relates to the screen resolution you've got your computer set to as this needs to match your Monitors HDMI Input i.e.1280x720 or 1920x1080 as detailed at the link below.

I cant seem to figure out what kind of video card upgrade to get for my desktop that has an hdmi imput

I don't know of any video card that has a HDMI input. There are several that have HDMI outputs, but none are AGP cards, this is the older model.
But the HDMI can be easily obtained with an DVI to HDMI adaptor like
http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-PCM-2296-06-HDMI-Cable/dp/B0007MWE1E
that can be plugged in every card that has an DVI output like
http://www.amazon.com/MSI-Radeon-PCI-Express-Graphics-MD512H/dp/B002EECNPA/ref=sr_1_14?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1307599951&sr=1-14

I don't know how to connect my PC inspiron to my TV 42" panasonic. Cable from TV to PC connected please can you help

Double check the connection at the back of the computer and also at the back of the tv to ensure the cable is plugged into the correct ports. (It is assumed that your video card is supporting a tv connection). Be sure the cable is plugged in securely at both ports.

Next, be sure you're using the correct input or source on the tv. To check this, press the "Input" or "Source" button on your Tv's remote until you reach either "Aux" or the apupropriate input/source that displays the image from the computer.

If those don't work, unplug the cable from the tv and computer and inspect it to be sure that no pins are bent or broken off. Missing or bent pins will result in loss of data between the computer and tv. This can cause the connection to not work.

Verify that your video can, indeed, support TV output. You may need to enter your video card setup or configuration. You can do this from within the Windows control panel, or the interface software that was installed with the videocard when you put it into the computer. Sometimes you have to change a setting within the video card control panel to enable TV output. Sometimes you don't. Videocard models vary, so there is no cut and dry procedure to follow. Simply open the control panel for "Display Properties" and hit the "Advanced" or "Hardware" button/tab. You should find a "Display Adapter" listing, with the name of your videocard. There may be a "Properties" button within this section as well. Click "Properties" to bring up a selection of additional options to choose, and possibly another option to enter the videocard's interface software (which may include even more choices that may help you out).

Onkyo605 stopped outputting Video after installing HDAV1.3 sound

If you didnt change any of the inputs going to the onkyo. I would check the input setup. I dont know what input you have your pc connected to on the onkyo, i'm guessing that your using a hdmi cable. make sure you have hdmi selected as your input type not component video or any other. That model doesnt upconvert anything to hdmi. Also some dvi-d to hdmi dont play well wih onkyo.

Philips 32' lcd hdtv

are you using a DVI to HDMI converter? Radeon cards older than x1*** series or roundabout didnt support hdcp on dvi which is required to run Hi-Def rez thru an HDMI cable on most TVs. A video card with hdmi prebuilt in or HDCP compliance listed on the box should be able to handle it. And you should find a resolution both your normal monitor and HDTV can handle to set the coimputer to before you switch it over to the HDTV to be sure it will still show you picture. If you arent using 1080P you might as well use a component input which doesnt require HDCP.
